Well Friedman did tweet that Calgary offered Monahan, Hanifin, and a conditional 1st for PLD, and Gavrikov.
Then removed the tweet 10 minutes later.
Take that for what you will.

I think that was from a fake account.

If it were true, PLD would be a Flame right now
and Treliving would have some 'splaining to do

If a player is constantly being offered up, I could see that being an issue, but they know that trades are part of the game. I doubt they think that much about it if there is the odd rumour.
Also keep in mind that most rumours are probably not 100% accurate. Some of them are even completely false. Players know that as much as anyone.

On another note, I wonder about Cody Glass in vegas. Not getting any opportunity to move up the lineup there and sputtering a bit. Healthy scratched a few times. Not sure what might tempt them but this should be something we're sniffing around...

"Analytics darling" sounds nice, but unless it directly results in rubber pucks traveling to the inner regions of opposing nets, it doesn't really mean anything.

What are his expected analytics versus his actual analytics though?

I thought Treliving just brought in three "analytics darlings?"

Dunn does seem to be one of those where the advanced stats are a little misleading.
Based on the St Louis fan sentiment Dunn seems to be one of those guys that is good 90% of the time but when it goes wrong it goes really wrong (call it the TJ Brodie)
Seems that he has a tendency to get beat by forwards for breakaways or bad giveaways that are 5 star chances.
Who knows though, usually over time the expected goals metric would capture that and he looks fine there.

I think dmen are really hard to evaluate. Sometimes they are the ones that wear the goat horns because they are the player being walked right before the goal. But the mistake could have happened 5 seconds before with a bad turnover by a forward at the other blue, that allowed the player to come into the attacking zone with speed.

I expect to see Dunn to Boston for a 2nd round pick in the next few days... just feels like a spot he'll land.

Yeah, Boston really lost a lot with the departure of Krug and Chara from their backend.

Been saying it 3-4 years now but I think we really missed not acquiring Toffoli while he was moved around/ a free agent. He is lighting it up in Montreal now, but also looked pretty great in Vancouver. Has a history with Monahan too. Real shame.

I’m sure Tre would have liked to add him.
Tanev and Markstrom were bigger priorities this offseason.
If we didn’t have so much dead capspace and the overpayment on Lucic’s contract we would have tried to sign him.

Or Josh Anderson - Calgary was reported to be interested there.
With both guys there sure were a lot of naysayers here though.

There is no doubt we could use a big bodied RHed winger who can play in the top 6, I don’t know why anyone would not be interested in adding one.
Both those guys would have checked that box.

For sure, a player like Josh Anderson would have help the Flames especially at right wing.
This was a great pickup by the Habs, who had a great off-season.
