Man, The previous Florida GM just gave up two 1sts to get Strome. Now he's being shipped out along with another 1st? For a similar forward and a dman on an expiring contract? Not loving this deal.

I think calling Johnny and Strome "similar" is a little farfetched.
Gaudreau is a much more valuable asset and, I think, could very easily be worth keeping on a UFA deal — Strome should likely not be kept beyond age 28 on a grid under any circumstances.

Interesting to hear guys. I wasn’t the one who gave up two firsts for Strome so I hope not to be judged on that.

Well, they are within one ratings point of each other, same age and similar points last year. I wouldn't call that farfetched, TheScorpion. I do agree that John is the better player though.

Strome isn't really a driver, though. He's pretty clearly a heavy beneficiary of playing with Panarin and I'm not sure for how long that arrangement will continue.
I think Johnny will remain productive until his mid-30s... not sure Strome will even be in the league when he's that age.

Yea, I think Johnny is quite a bit more valuable than Strome and has the potential to get a 1-2 rating bump next season, whereas I'm worried about Strome falling off a cliff if he's traded from the Rangers.
However, if Strome does remain with the Rangers, I'm sure his final RFA deal next season will turn out decent

This one has to be judged minus the previous overpay. Colorado may have won this, but if they did it's not by much, and that's what playing out the season is for.
Long term I think Florida might be ahead past this season. If I have to think that much about it, it's probably fine.

Also, favourite player so it means something to have him on my team.

Value is fair. With the moves New Jersey has made, it is not necessarily a lottery pick either, so probably a mid first round pick. Good trade IMO

One correction:
It is the 2022 NYI 1st, not the 2022 NJ 1st
