Keep in mind that you don't know what he was asked. A reporter could have outright asked "what do you think it would take to beat Nadal?"

You have a clear bias here but I think this guy are all individuals and it was probably something along the lines of do you think Nadal is unbeatable? Nobody in tennis is unbeatable, everybody can have a bad outing and blow a match here and there.

"Trash talk" sure has changed over the years. Now stating what amounts to a fact is talking trash. Beyond that is he supposed to say "What a year for Rafa, can't wait to lay down to him like the Spanish players would."?

Who hired the biggest nerd to do the tennis announcement and is that Anna Kornikova?

Wow they finally cast Earthworm Jim in the live action movie and I think I see Genie's future.
There first line about how Tennis isnt as popular as it used to be is crazy seeing how its never been better. Imagine how popular it would be in the USA if Federer was from New York, Nadal from LA and Djokovoic from Detroit.

Cilic defeats Tiafoe in the opening match of the Laver Cup 7-6 7-6. Isner and Thiem are currently in a first set tie-breaker.

I was hoping to see another 18-16 tie-break with Borg and McEnroe on court and Isner/Thiem come close. John takes the first set tie-breaker by a 17-15 score.

Love the shot of Rafa sucking back a huge glass of tinto while sitting next to Federer.

All fun aside, this is shaping up to be one heck of an event and quite refreshing from the typical weekly grind.

I don't think that's trash talk at all. If anyone in the top 50 has their best day, certainly they can beat Rafa. Denis just did it a few weeks ago. He's playing well but by no means is unbeatable on hardcourt.

Good early test for Denis as far as nerves are concerned as he saves two break points and holds serve.

Well, there have been six tie-breakers played so far today (5 regular and 1 match tie-breaker) and Team Europe have won five of six.

Denis saves four match points in that service game to prolong the match. On serve at 5-5 in set 2.

The good news is the next 10-12 years of watching Sasha - Denis is going to be fantastic tennis even though the wrong guy won today

Double faults in the tiebreaker are such a killer.

The Borg gamble of not playing Fed or Rafa on day 1 singles has payed off handsomely. Meanwhile, Johnny Mac needs Krygios/Sock to win in doubles to avoid a clean sweep for Team Europe.

Krygios/Sock do prevail in the doubles match over Nadal/Berdych to get Team World on the board. Score is 3-1 Europe going into Saturday.

Jack Sock gave Rafa all he could handle today, but Rafa eked out a win to give Europe a 7-1 lead heading into the evening session.

/Fed quite easily dispatched of Sam Querrey in the earlier match today.
