Not much to complain about but I felt Nesterov didn’t have a great game.
Valimaki’s vision is becoming more and more noticeable. He looks like he will soon have a huge impact upon our offensive momentum as he is always engaged in the play...
I’m a huge fan of his style of play and the errors he does make will get ironed out.

Markstrom proves once more the value of having a great goalie.

My advanced stats ignorance is on show, so could you kindly explain to me how/when the Flames had an 8-7 margin in high danger scoring chances, they end the game with a 38% of the high danger chances and 38% of the expected goal split.?

I was wondering that myself, but I think the first number is EV scoring chances, and as Bingo said the percentage is the total for the game in all situations.

Yeah that's pretty much it.
5 on 5 the Flames had a great third period, and erased the deficit in most of the categories for the game as a whole. So 8-7 in high danger chances to finish, with a third period of 5-1. Calgary had a 5 on 5 third period with 79% xGF which also closed the gap.
But if you isolate powerplay time the game swings.
Vancouver gets 8 minutes on the powerplay and generates 8 high danger chances (don't give up any short handed)
Calgary gets 6 minutes (two less) and generates 2 high danger chances (don't give up any short handed).
So when you bring that forward into 60 minutes it's not all that close, despite the Flames closing the gap considerably five on five.
