Wish they were doing the Boomsies this year. Kind of reading between the lines of the morning show, feels like the pandemic and station downsizing has been super hard on Boomer though (like... duh...), so can't blame him for just powering down for a while.
I'll say Boomer in the morning has been a mainstay of my pandemic experience, and regardless of anything else, the efforts they have put in have been helpful. It's pretty rare for me to get through a podcast without laughing out loud at least once and having people in the street turn and stare at me. We can all use a stupid giggle in times like these.

This is kind of off topic, but I noticed that in the most recent episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm, Larry David kept mentioning "recording hockey games" and asking people whether they have the "NHL Package"
It seemed very unnatural. It also seems apparent that the NHL is paying the show to mention them.
And this is the case for gambling on the Fan 960. The amount of gambling talk seems unnatural. The guests seem to only be their to promote their sites.
I think he's just a hockey fan and probably wanted to talk about it. ->

Larry David has been preaching “You gotta support the team” since Bill Clinton’s first term.

You don't think Bosco, Ovaltine, and Kenny Rogers Roasters were backing up dump trucks of money for mentions on Seinfeld? Me neither.
Having said that, it would be brilliant marketing to get a lovable schmuck like LD to promote your product. I'm not caught up to the episode in question, though.

Yep, I think he's just a big sports fan in general. I know he loves the N.Y. Jets, Knicks & Yankees, he's been on the Rich Eisen (NFL) show lots talking Jets.
That's actually the first time I've heard him talk hockey, good to know he likes that too.
wonder when all of our sports radio comes from the "centre of the universe", the six, T-dot...
If I have to choose between Will & Riley’s clowning amateur hour I choose Toronto every time because when either of those nasily mumbling dough mouths are on I switch to anything else.

They haven’t played hockey in what, ten days? And they’re not going to start until after Christmas.
Take the week off, boys.
I’m guessing some suit in Toronto made them all take vacation at the same time, but as an employee I’d be concerned about what it could lead to.
Maybe it’s because I’ve spent a lot of time in conference rooms talking about outsourcing, etc… but my opinion is that if you prove that the operation functions okay in your absence for extended periods of time, then some bonus motivated executive is going to figure out how to manage without you on a permanent basis.
This kinda happened at 960 already. They worked from home because of Covid for so long that Rogers was comfortable letting Klein go and replacing him with a remote Andrew “Hustler” Patterson dialing in from Winnipeg for a few hours a week back in the summer. Not that Klein was making much, but replacing him with a non employee at peanuts per week (they probably paid him in Rogers pay as you go gift cards) and no benefits costs was a classic cost cutting Rogers move. It worked so well, they eventually realized they didn’t really need Paterson either.
Not sports media but where has Krys Stewart on Cjay disappeared too! Always liked listening to her during the Rinthol show
I don't even listen to cjay that much but was wondering the same thing the other day.
There also used to be this weather woman on ctv with David Spence that I've been wondering what happened to her. I guess people move on and if you're not watching/listening daily you miss it.
Radio strikes me as weirdly secretive that way. Remember when Mike Richards left 960? Like, one morning he just left halfway through the show because he had signed a contract with TSN or someone out in Toronto, his contract here was done. Poof.
And never a word about it on the station. Never a mention, a thank you, nothing. Like he never existed. It's a weird thing to me.
