360 vs ps3 online differences

Just wondering if anyone knows what the difference between the two setups are. I have a 360 and my buddy a ps3 and we were trying to figure out if xbox live is actually any better seeing that I have to pay for it.

In game text messaging on 360 makes it a lot easier to meet friends online and set up games. For the ps3 you actually have to exit the game to read any messages you get. However once sony finally rolls out home(a virtual game lobby) or at least get their in game text messaging working, ps3 should end up being better.

It's a tough call and kinda subjective in my mind. I agree with Human Torch, leaving a game just to get a message is ridiculously stupid. A change is coming however, and once it does I would personally say the ps3 online will be better. Live is super cool and definitely more feature loaded then ps3's offering, I just question if it excels to the point that it's worth paying for. Many will say yes, many will say no. It's a preference thing. In terms of quality I've noticed no difference.

Along with the in game XMB coming along so you can message in-game, a virtual myspace is coming soon for the PS3 as well which will feature the achievements system that Live have.

So basically, anything XBox has, PS3 will have, and more.
