Default Burnable Dvd's--which To Buy?

I bought a new Dell recently and it has a dvd burner in it, I can't figure out which dvds to buy for it. There are DVD+ DVD- DVD-RW. The guy at Walmart wasn't sure either. Would they all work on my drive? I want to burn some movies so that I can play them on my tv with my dvd player, and I also want to burn some pictures for backup.

Also, I should ask about creating dvd movies for my tv. What software should I use to convert the downloaded movies for burning and then watching on my dvd player?

Thanks, any help is appreciated!

You can use all of them but supposedly DVD- have better compatibility with older dvd players. DVD-RW are rewritable dvds.

However, I don't think it's worth the time to convert your movies into dvd if you plan on regularly downloading movies and watching them on your dvd player. It's easier and faster to just purchase a divx dvd player with usb like this one:

All you have to do is just transfer the movies to a usb thumb drive and then plug it in the dvd player and play it off the usb drive. No wasted discs with this method.

Nero is pretty good burning software.
