Oilers in 5. The Kings are a good team but lack of game breakers will do them in.
Hate to say it but the Oilers have good depth right now, and the Ekholm acquisition has really stabilized their defence. Biggest risks for them are Skinner turning into a pumpkin and injuries.

Kings were scoring at a better clip than Edmonton for much of the season.
Their offense dried up a bit in the last few weeks, which could be partly attributed to player injuries.
It was strange to see them struggle to score. That's not like this Kings team at all.. and not a great time for it to happen. I think they get their guys in and bring a better offensive game for this series.

I'll take Kings in 6 but sadly wouldn't be surprised if the Oilers take it

I'd pick the Jets over the Krack and the Panthers just because of Hellebuyk.

Also if any of you plan on trotting out that "hurr durr I cheer for all Canadians teams hurr durr" you can go ahead and just not.
Here are a list of teams you are forbidden to cheer for:
1. Oilers
2. Leafs

Coincidentally, those are the two teams I just dropped some money on to win the cup. It's my bulwark after probably the worst Flames season in living memory, everything that could go wrong did. The only way things get any worse is if the Leafs or Oilers hoist the cup, so if that happens at least I'm gonna get ####ing paid

McDavid and Draisatl alone will take out the Kings. Can't see this going much past 5 games honestly. Would love to be wrong.

No fear. The Canucks took themselves out of the equation.

I feel like we should add the Jets here, too. They don’t really deserve a team and their fans are basically like Edmonton fans without the ability to afford good shoes.

They are so forgettable.
People can cheer for them, it literally doesn't matter because they don't matter. They are Sens West.

I'm only cheering for them this round because they are playing the Knights, after they take out the Knights, they can go to hell.

Oilers have enjoyed an extended run of things going well. No matter what team you are, eventually that turns. In a tournament of 16 when every team going in gets a reset and motivation is at its peak, it's always a prime time for that sudden jerk to the left for teams that have had smooth sailing for weeks/months.
7 game series are a game of momentum & bounces where things can snowball quickly.
This is why I see Boston and Edmonton (teams that haven't seen much adversity lately) bowing out earlier than expected by the pundits.
There always seems to be two teams in the final four that people expect, and two that people do not expect. And often one of those unexpected teams represents a conference.
This also reminds of the Oilers blowing out the Jets all year in the 7 team season and then the Jets using the end of the season to flip a switch for playoffs and ousting them in four.
If the Oilers are counting their eggs already, which we know they pretty much are with comments like "after the parade" from Holland to Ekholm, there's a decent chance an opponent uses that as fuel and gives them a rude awakening.
The Kings are a good candidate for exactly this given the ability they've shown to shut down/limit the EDM guys.
