Fantastic list.

That's a great list. I honestly thought a lot of those were older than 21 years.

That Vanity Fair list had me right up until Twilight.

They're not wrong about why it has significance though. It was a catalyst for young adult franchises like Hunger Games/Divergent/Maze Runner.

How does “the government lobby scene from The Matrix” make the list when “Neo dodges bullets” is probably one of the top 20 most iconic/memorable/significant movie scenes of all time?

What does Bill whisper to ScarJo at the end of Lost In Translation?

Probably not the right or romantic answer, but I like to think he told her "you are a beautiful person and will have a beautiful life".

Gah, I should have checked. Thought they were both 1998. Replace those with Llorando (which I meant to include) and probably that Little Miss Sunshine scene... I've never seen that movie but I gather that'd probably be on a lot of lists.

If you were doing a moment from BR2049, though, it'd probably be this.

Thing is, I don't see that film as a) having had the cultural impact that it really should have (maybe that will change over time, because it's ####ing amazing) or being a movie that was really all about "moments". Same reason you don't see any Wes Anderson scenes... nothing really sticks out for me.

On the other hand, now that you bring up Villeneuve, here are a couple that arguably warrant inclusion.

Good lord am I ever pumped for Dune...

I'll throw some more in that are better than a lot of that list too:

Spoiler!

It's baffling that this list doesn't have any Star Wars on it at all, in fact, considering it's pandering to the sci-fi/nerd movie crowd and there's been like seven Star Wars movies released in the last 20 years.

Because "the government lobby scene" was the go to scene for HT demonstrations for years.

This scene (and the 10ish minutes leading up to it) should be used as a study on how to effectively build tension in a movie. It's just masterful. It's my favourite part of that movie.

Yeah, I considered the dinner scene, but the border crossing is more memorable, I think.
