I just spent a few days in Northern Idaho - guns are everywhere. AR rifles for sale at Walmart for $400-$500. I saw this ad from a local realtor:
That's some messed up ####e right there!! Not to be too general, but it seems that there is this, "America is better than all" mentality. No matter where they go in the world, the armed forces are fighting "for our freedom". How can you claim to be free, safe, democratic, yet have these types of groups that are clearly delusional? It is sad how blind they are to seeing it, how they can't see that by having and encouraging this kind of thinking it somehow brings unity and a spirit of freedom. Again I know this is generalized. I have family that lives in the States that don't think like this at all. It would be interesting to see what the percentage is of people who think like this though.

It's a crazy place. I mean here I'm basically the resident redneck but talking to some Americans I'm a liberal snowflake
Just heard all officers shot had non-life threatening injuries from a live ABC feed. That's good, although info this early needs more time to be verified.
Okay, they have the good guys with guns on site. Unfortunately, the bad guy(s) have a bigger gun. I wonder which side uses more hopes and prayers? The good guys hope and pray that they get the bad guy before any more police are shot. Meanwhile, I’m sure the bad guy is hoping and praying that he gets more good guys before he dies.
One of the few things i hate about america. The gun problem. How sad.
How many more will die because any slight change to gun rights is met with backlash. I’m not saying take all guns away, i’m saying they’re falling into the wrong hands. America, you fill in the in between.
Democrats had 8 years to make a change and they didn’t. Republicans sure aren’t going to.
Looked like he was being compassionate, went to give her a hug, put himself in her shoes for a minute and just lost it.
I'm not sure if that is good or bad for him politically, but it seems to me anyone who is less likely to vote for him because of that reaction is a total a-hole. I'm really getting to like Yang.... I still don't think he can win, but as I said in another thread he may have some staying power as he's clearly very intelligent, has a lot of support online and is talking about totally different problems than the rest of the field.
Yang is also offering up creative and smart solutions to problems, which no other candidate is doing. I really like his idea about personalizing gun owner's guns so they are only usable by the gun owner and also his Democracy Dollars idea that would wash out the influence of lobbyist money giving power and influence back to the people (he explains his idea at 3:15).

tough to do when the republicans blocked anything to do with any gun control...there were even democrats that voted against the bill, but in the end, even if the democrats all followed the party line, they still didn't have enough votes to pass the bill
So, we have an office in Dayton, and I am friends with the guy that does my role there, and after the shooting 1 1/2 weeks ago, sent him an email, just saying, hoping he was all right, I was thinking about him and his family ....
Didn't hear back from him which I didn't think too much about.
Yesterday he replied, that his wife was in the bar, saw the shooter enter, shoot people and then the cops shoot him. It's really hard to believe. He still seems like he is in a bit of shock. I haven't talked to him on the phone yet, but, still, this is crazy stuff.
