As an aside, it would be interesting to see an ATL done on this site after a big loss.
Whats hilarious is the next season the Oilers lose their #1 goalie in the playoffs to a leg injury, potentially costing them the cup lol

Watching parts of it again, I like how there's so much sadness for McDavid being physically challenged but no one points out that he instantly turns Floaty McFloater after missing a shot, doesn't bother skating back and just glides while watching Johnny skate all the way in and score the first goal.

Maybe next time he could wear a helmet cam and we can get a great view of the goal like he did.

Where can a guy find the three stars for each game? My kid always asks and it's like pulling teeth cruising around the horn trying to find them. Any good options without downloading some ####ty app?

nhl.com publishes the game stars in the box scores for every game.

Yes but that site clearly isn't accurate, they don't show McLotto getting a star yesterday.

I think what happens is that different outlets publish their own list of 3 stars. I've noticed the one on Fan960 doesn't always match what is called on the Sportsnet TV broadcast.

To be fair, "watch in adulation and bow your head after they score" has been the Oilers primary defensive strategy for a decade now. It's no wonder their fans feel confused when the opposition actually plays defense.

Some people will hate this comparison, but Monahan reminds me of a bigger, slightly more skilled version of Daymond Langkow

Sportsnet is in such a rush to get off the air so as not to accidentally show any semblance of a post game show that they cannot actually wait the extra 45 seconds for the actual 3 stars...

The reason for that is “Daymond Langkow” on its own doesn’t really communicate much useful information about what you are comparing. What is it about Langkow that you see in Monahan more specifically?

I don't really see the Langkow comparison at all. Their playstyles aren't even that similar.

Also, we would've had it made if Langkow gelled with Iginla the way that Monahan does with Gaudreau.

Have to agree Langkow was a jack of all trades type player who played above his size physically and wasn't afraid to throw down. Monahan is one of the best pure scorers in the game.

I don't mind the Langkow comparison. Langkow was always more of a finisher than a disher - rare for a center - and was only a mediocre skater. Most of his goals were from being in tight, and in good position to capitalize. Never was a driver of a line, but was really good with the right setup guy, and clicked really well with our most high-skill player at that time in Huselius. Langkow was probably better in his own end than Monahan, however.

Monahan is obviously the better scorer, but Langkow was a really good player, and I don't think it's a terrible comparison.

Newy is sort of comparable although he had better wheels compared to the league standard than Monahan does. Great hands, not physical, great instincts, not really a dangler. Quiet personality too.

Nor do I. Monahan is better than Langkow.

If he keeps playing as solid as he does, and keeps putting up the points, I can see him being almost as good as Nieuwendyk.

Both Monahan and Nieuwendyk have and had a special gift to score from anywhere in the slot. Time will tell but I don't think Monahan is quite as good at faceoffs.

The only thing they have in common is that they were both quiet guys...

It’s the quiet ones you need to watch.

Don’t believe me?
