https://www.nhl.com/flames/news/flam...?tid=282300716

Quote:
The Calgary Flames announced today that they have recalled defenceman Oliver Kylington and forward Ryan Lomberg from the Stockton Heat.

Forward Michael Frolik (lower body) and defenceman Michael Stone (blood clot) have been placed on Injured Reserve.

Kylington, a 21-year-old defenceman, is in his fourth pro season with the Stockton Heat. He is currently tied for the team lead in points with seven goals and seven assists for 14 points in 18 games. He made his NHL debut during the 2015-16 season on April 9th in Minnesota becoming just the eight player in Flames history to debut at the age of 18.

Lomberg, a 23-year-old winger, is also in his fourth pro season with the Stockton Heat. He has a pair of goals along with four assists for six points and 12 penalty minutes in 18 games this season. Lomberg had a seven game stint with the Flames last season picking up his first NHL point with an assist along with 15 penalty minutes.

Calgary has a two gaMe road trip starting Friday, November 23rd in Vegas before concluding the trip in Arizona on Sunday, November 25th.

Lomberg over Rychel? Anyone with better knowledge of the Heat, know why that would be?

Can Rychel not slot into a 4th line, 10 minute role?

I figured Kylington would be up. Lomberg is a bit of a surprise (but not a large one) I figured they would go with Rychel or Peluso.

I'm glad Peters used the Canes as guinea pigs when he tried it 3 years ago with some success.

Lomberg is scrappy AF, a little annoying pest. Lines up at centre or wing so brings some grit and versatility to the bottom lines. Not much upside but a good fill in forward.

Lomberg is going to have to earn that call-up right away, but this does bring us some jam Rychel isn't likely to bring.

Lomberg has more jam than Rychel in a 4th line role

What tough guy is Lomberg going to overmatch himself against this time? Reaves?

Valimaki had a rough night against Winnipeg. Maybe having Kylington up acts as additional motivation? Otherwise seems odd to me to rob Stockton of his services just to sit him. Surprised they just didnt get Prout back early.

Also if you're Czarnik and Lomberg ends up dressing ahead of you what message does that send?

These guys aren’t going to play, they are there to sub in practice and in case there is a game day injury.

They probably didn’t want to take Rychel away from stockton as he’s one of their top scorers.

Kylington call up is a reward for his good play. They probably want to get him some NHL exposure in the locker room too.

What's the over/under on whether we see Lomberg get punched into the third row by Reaves.

And based on his previous stints, you have to think Lomberg will be chomping at the bit to fight Reaves. The betting line should be whether Lomberg gets the instigator

I suspect they won't get into tonight's game. Let them have a practice with the team.

This new identity of getting under the opponents skin while beating them with speed and skill ... I like it.

Giving you AHL prospects NHL roster days even if they don't play I think is good management. Gets them into practice with the big club so they get exposed, get to know the room, and puts dollars in their pocket. They only get 70k in the AHL so Kylington gets about 4,000 per day he is on the roster. So spending a week up with the flames is a 30% raise. So these types of opportunities will keep everyone happy as well

He'll probably also get a trip to the hospital. I like Lomberg's compete level but Reaves would absolutely pummel him, it would be ugly. I would hope Lomberg would concentrate on making hits and creating energy, and stay far away from a heavyweight like Reaves.
