Keep Stone. Someone's going to get hurt. Probably more than one someone.
But the team also has Kylington tearing it up in the AHL. At some point he needs to get a shot as well and shouldn't necessarily be blocked by Stone at this point.

Flames 7,8,9 D depth is Stone, Prout and Kylington

That is better than at least one teams 4,5,6

Bennett is fine:

Derek Wills @Fan960Wills
#Flames GM Brad Treliving just told us that Michael Frolik has been placed on IR with a lower body injury and won’t travel with the team. It was a maintenance day for Sam Bennett, who blocked a shot with his forearm last night. He is fine.

Sorry for my ignorance, but how serious is a blood clot and what is the recovery time frame?

Stone is experienced. We know he can play in the NHL. That's depth. Kylington may be able to, but we don't know at all. That's only a prospect. The last thing the Flames should count on is Kylington just stepping into the lineup due to an injury.

Blood clot is pretty serious. If it causes a blockage it can lead to death.

Assumption is that Stone will need to go on blood thinners until the doctors determine the clots are no longer a risk. While he is on blood thinners he will not be able to play.

Wasn't it a blood clot which hampered Roman Cervenka's time with the Flames?

Yikes. They warn it can happen from sitting too much...

Hope he’s ok.

Yeah the big worry with clots (depending where they are on the body) are that they actually break away and travel into the heart or brain, and cause anything from a stroke to an aneurysm.

Thinners for sure and that could be a long process...as in months.

Ryan Pike @RyanNPike
Expect the #Flames to make a few roster moves so they have some extra bodies around on the road trip.

Just an FYI...Pascal Dupuis had to retire from the game due to blood clots.

There are very few if any #7 defensemen who are as good as Michael Stone. He is a regular roster play on almost any team in the League.

I wonder who gets the call on D? Likely Kylington would normally be a call up but whoever they do bring will not be playing, so do you go with Prout who also needs to get some game time, or do you go to Hogstrom or Healey types.
