But yet that's not the reason they can't trade him, had they have been totally honest they would have just said "he sucks and so does his contract"

His contract is fantastic. Agents and the PA are likely drafting it as boilerplate for future contracts.
It totally screws the Oilers though which makes it even better.

Puljujarvi's 7:43 was the least he's played in a game since the last NHL game of his rookie year.
6 seconds of powerplay time, 2PIM, -1
I know it's only one game but it's hilarious that a lot of Oiler fans were stoked on the Hitchcock hiring because he would handle Pooparty better and give him top 6 minutes.

Puljujarvi was expected to go top 5 or 10 in that draft, so can't fault the Oilers in taking him. But given their history, they probably ruined his development.
Speaking of that draft though, for all of Arizona's suckiness, Keller is looking like a great pick for them now.

I don't remember at any time seeing him outside of the top 3 on any list.
I also remember Pat Steinberg gushing over him to the point saying he might even turn out better than Matthews.

Absolutely beautiful. Almost brought a tear to my eye.

I'm going to get roasted & toasted for saying this and frankly, I don't care.
We should all enjoy watching McDavid these last 50 some games this season because right now I'd say chances are much better than 50/50 that he asks to be dealt when they miss the playoffs by 10-15 points again this season. The kid is too much of a talent to see it wasted with **** linemates and a **** team. Don't kid yourself either with thinking "He'd never ask for a trade so soon, he wasn't raised that way" etc. because there is no loyalty in pro sports anymore. As we all know, it's a business and about superstars giving themse a chance to win championships and there is no hope in hell of that happening with this organization anytime soon, thanks to Chiarelli. McDavidis not an idiot and can see there is no help coming in the UFA market, trade market or prospect market for a while and he's not going to stick around waiting for it and nor should he. This is absolutely nothing short of criminal for Nicholson and Katz to have idly sat by and watched their partner in crime sewer this team in trades and cap management. The Oilers should be doing what Toronto and Buffalo and dare I say Calgary are doing to teams, but no it's still a joke of a organization winning one game and losing the next three. Instead they're headed towards their usual ****ing comfy spot in the standings. The way this roster is built, Lindy Ruff is likely to find work as a HC again and surpass Hitchcock because he won't be padding that lead in wins against coaches who are active/living with this squad. Trotz will easily pass him by about January in a year's time as he's after Ruff.
If you can't beat the league's worst team when they're playing back to back games and played their AHL goalie in both games, you deserve to be and are absolutely fist-****ed.

Just watched the glorious win by the kings in LA! I was hanging with a bunch of Oilers fans, and it was fun rubbing in the stamps win, the flames blowout and the fact that we're first in the division.
Also ran into Mark Spector at a bar, and the oiler fan we were with was complaining about oiler futility to him, and I told him to cheer for the better team from Southern Alberta, and they both didn't look impressed .

I am really enjoying reading comments from Oiler fans like “Chiasson should be used more”. That is the state of things in sweatpant land. Chiasson doesn’t crack the Flames lineup this year, and he’s the Oilers 4th best forward.

Yeah, typically a PTO is signed as a depth player. Pretty telling of both their prospect pool and their roster depth that they needed a couple PTOs. Even worse when you consider how much they are playing or how much better they are then what was in the system already. I think the best part is chiasson will probably be back there next year on a longer term, more money contract.

Oh man, I just pictured LA finishing last, winning the lottery, and then trading the pick (Hughes) plus Doughty to Edmonton for McDavid.
It becomes the Gretzky trade 2.0 with McDavid leaving Mulletville for Hollywood. Edmonton gets to pick first overall (again), adds a shiny new toy to play with (which it will break like a petulant toddler), and Doughty is stuck playing for that tire fire and it’s garbage roster.

Doughty has a full NMC, so I don't see that happening.

Not running the risk of ever being traded to Edmonton is probably the main reason a lot of players push for NMC's in the first place.

He is actually saying that half of the losing teams, or a quarter of the teams playing complain about the refs.

Realistically....
Every fan base complains, the winning fans just stop when the buzzer sounds.
