Force of habit, I love having my hands in front of me to play. With the Switch joy cons though, I have become the world's laziest gamer. I sit there with both my hands beside me on the couch. lol.

I have tried playing with split joycons, particularly when Super Mario Odyssey came out, but I just couldn't do it. I know that there's no actual reason both hands need to be in front, other than my brain not being able to handle it!

I feel like it's intentional that the bosses aren't too tough, given that Lynels and the like can all be avoided, whereas you're going to be funneled through the bosses. The strong side enemies are challenges if you want to take them on.

I died a number of times in that initial bit after leaving the plateau, but after that there wasn't really any issues. If you're careful then that should be the result. I do remember dying from a trap room full of guardians, though.

Was anybody able to find out where to buy an extra dock, or even just an extra hdmi & charging cable? Is this just a standard USB C to HDMI or is this more proprietary than that?

They did have the official dock set but it's not cheap and somewhat hard to find.

They do have the official AC adapter though that goes on sale on Amazon sometime.

I looked into a third-party dock but chickened out when early reviews showed some units getting fried. I ended up getting an official dock from my wife for Christmas, and after a very half-assed "oh that's too expensive for what it is", I do enjoy the convenience of switching between my two TVs without any fuss.

For travelling, however, you can safely charge using a standard USB wall plug (the larger 2.1a, 5v variety) and a USB-C cable. The charging is slower than the official Nintendo wall adapter, but good enough for the bedside table in a hotel.

Despite using a standard USB-C connector, the official Nintendo plug and dock
want something like 2.6a and 15v. So the plug is standard, but the voltage not so much compared to phones and tablets.

Thanks. Kind of cool that the "frequently bought together" showed this guy.

What is the USB port for? Is for for memory or another method of charging it?

My guess is it's to plug in and charge a pro controller.

Possibly a USB ethernet adapter as well. I know that the OEM dock allows this.

Any chance there will ever be any Star Wars games released?

Honestly probably not as long as that licence remains with EA.

EA has been pretty slow to support Switch with only FIFA being released on the system, but on a different engine than the other platforms.

Until they actually port their Frostbite engine to work on the Switch I doubt we see anything more from EA on the Switch (Although it is rumored they finally ported Frostbite to Switch now).

It's going to start getting hard for third parties to ignore the Switch though. At the same point of their life cycles it's ahead of where the PS4 and XBox One were in sales.

Think it's likely around 35M lifetime sales worldwide now and is quickly catching Xbox One.

Switch has shown that it can handle powerful engines too. Ubisoft ported Snowdrop over and South Park, Star Link, and Mario x Rabbids all looked and played great on the system.

However, according to Takahashi, the current development status of the game is “very challenged.” This is why Nintendo decided to have Tanabe work with Retro Studios on the game, rebooting development.

Hope you didn't have any time set aside for Metroid this fall...could be awhile. Dammit!

I didn't have any time set aside because Nintendo hadn't said a thing about it until now...it seemed unlikely that they could have a 2019 release of the game. I'm sorta glad Retro Studios is working on the series again, but it's been 11 years since the last release. It seems likely that a whole new team at Retro will be working on it too.

That being said, the Prime trilogy holds up really well today. I could keep playing all three for a while and be happy.

I do hope the previous rumors of a HD remake of that trilogy are true and they still end up releasing that.

Think that would tide most people over until Prime 4 comes out in a couple years now.

If they're really starting over completely, I would imagine it's 3-4 years out, not just a couple.

It does point to whatever Retro has been working on since Tropical Freeze must be nearing completion!

Yeah my guess would be between Q4 - 2021 and Q2 - 2022 but even that would be ambitious.

May end up being like BoTW was in that it's a Switch / Switch 2 title that appears on both of the systems.

Finally got Mario Kart. Great game and I love how intuitive everything is for someone who hasn't played since N64, but I hate the auto steering that kicks in when you want to go off course. That really shouldn't be a default setting. It's great for my wife to be able to learn to enjoy the game but anything above 50cc shouldn't have it. Super annoying.

On the other hand, I love having online play. The game itself is pretty easy to beat even on hard, but there seem to always be some pretty tough racers online.

Just like with N64, I feel like this game will have no expiry on it and will always be fun to play. Best purchase so far that I've made for the switch.

You know that you can turn that off from the pause menu right?
