It's hard to look at Baertschi/Monahan/Stempniak as anything other than a 1st line...

I've been on the Monahan train since we drafted him. I'd love to get his jersey right now but I'm afraid he will change his number. Hopefully there will be some confirmation soon, like when Sven told media he wouldn't switch due to any of the fans who already made their purchase.

I dont think Baertschi is a disaster. He's WIP. Work in Process. He's got more upside than downside at this point. Monahan and Sven played very well together tonight.

What I like about Monahan is the quick hand eye coordination. I think he needs to improve his game by forechecking if he's first in, instead of skating to the front of the net side. That will come with time.

I don't understand why there is any concern over Baertschi at all.

29GP 7G 8A 15PTS

Pro-rated over 82GP is:

20G 23A 43PTS

He turned 21 last week. It's pretty damn impressive considering where we drafted him.

Barring injury, Baertschi will be a star in this league.

Great prospect to build around. Has the maturity of a seasoned vet, humble, hard working, extremely smart. Kid is going to be a star and future captain

Forget the offence for a moment. Consider that after both Montreal goals, Hartley came back with Monahan-Baertschi-Stempniak as his pick me up line. The kids - both of them - are earning the coach's trust.

It's getting ridiculous really.

Sven wasn't really good to start last season, but he sure as hell wasn't the 4 and a half minutes he was getting from Hartley bad. He was more than fine after he was called back up.

As for Monahan. Awesome so far.

I know this is a Monahan thread but is Sven okay after that collision late in the third?

He has a post game media scrum intetview on the flames app from tonight so I think he must be okay. I also saw him skate out to congratulate Mac after the game

I know we are only four games into the season, but for anyone thinking Sean should be sent back to a league where he was quite dominant for the last two seasons ask yourself this one question:

Who has been more impressive than Sean Monahan this pre and regular season for the Flames?

Give him 5 more games to impress and he'll prove that he belongs in this league.

Monahan has been a good surprise. He has great smarts. Still needs a lot of work on his skating though. Hopefully he can improve like Backlund did.

I know it's early but I'm gonna say it; I think we've finally found our true #1 center.

Probably premature...but Monahan has a lot of Toews' traits.
High end tenacity, vision and skill set.

Easily the best Flames prospect in a very long time.

Always amazed about how quickly someone comes into threads like this to provide a cold splash of reality.
Not sure why fans aren't allowed to just be excited.
