It wasn't dumb just against the grain. I'm fine if some of you don't like my post as it's not a popularity contest. I look at his family picture just like everyone else and feel for his family. Some people here mentioned they liked his style and I just mentioned I didn't.

Dear Ghost of Mick,

Now that you have ascended to be a part of all space and time, have your feelings changed about the hand pass that wiped away a tying goal between the Oilers and the Stars?

Godspeed. I always enjoyed watching you call games. 62 is far too young.

Condolences to his family and friends. I didn't know the guy (obviously), but I feel a loss still.

He really was a great official and brought a lot of personality and heart to the profession.

He admitted as much right after the game:

"It was a blown call on my part," he said after the game. "It was poor judgment on my part. I thought he had his hand on the puck on the faceoff but it was his stick. My judgment was poor on the play."

Okay, this much, sure. RIP and Godspeed. Blessings to him and his family, of course; I知 sure he was a wonderful human. Clearly passionate about what he did, which is admirable in and of itself. We should all be so fortunate.

But, I always dreaded when he was calling Flames games, and that perception has not changed despite his passing.

Very distasteful, the people that want to talk down his work. Not the time or place at all for any crap denigrating the man’s work.

I mean really, if you had the ability to see when people were grieving over you, how would you regard someone who somehow felt the need to step up post mortem, just to throw shade. PoS move. (Not point of sale, the other PoS)

Officiating is hard and demanding. First time I tried reffing, even informally, I couldn’t stay out of the way! Never mind dealing with the obvious calls, the borderline calls, the sneaky stuff, etc.

Always admired his passion for the game. I felt he always tried to be fair and honourable.

RIP, Mick.

So it's fine to lie and say that he was a great ref just because he is dead?

Well people could just choose not to comment on his reffing at all

It's fine to not say anything at all if you don't think he was a great ref. FlamesAddiction thought he was and said a nice thing about the deceased. You said a ####ty thing about the deceased. Do you really not see a difference there?

How hard is it to not be ####ty about the dead?

The thread about his death is obviously not the place to engage in a debate about your difference of opinion with FlamesAddiction about McGeough being a great ref.

RIP Mr Mcgeough.

I値l never forget that call posted in the gif above. Emphatically waving a goal off for a few seconds and then all of a sudden signalling a goal. Never figured that one out.
