Nice to read something that isn't all about firing the coach or who isn't being used properly.

I tend to agree that given time things will work it self out.

Second straight game where Gulutzan stared the 3M line along with Dougie Hamilton and Mark Giordano and I love it. Getting a jump in the parity stricken NHL is so crucial, why not start with your best off the hop and see if you can get a quick lead.
This is very telling. If the Flames are looking for a quick lead wouldn't they start their #1 line?

The reason that Backlund/Gio 5 were starting the game was a reaction to the Stars starting Sequin/Benn/Radulov their three best forwards that the Flames were defending against.

Dallas goes directly against the balanced 2 guys and a filler theory of lineups.

Also having Backlund / Frolik / Tkachuk has 3 of the Flames top 5 forwards on a line....making it the clear cut #1 line in Calgary.

Used to be that Gaudreau/ Monahan / Hudler forced the other team to react.

In the pre-season I was told repeated that Ferland made the "top" line better.... now it seem that he has made the top line into the 2nd line and not one that the other team causes the other team to panic and line match against.

Big mistake having 5 top-4 defenseman ( all signed for the next 3 years) and only 5 top 6 forwards. My theory is that the defense will play better if one of the top 5 gets dinged and they have to go rolling 2 pairs without the juggling.... getting Stone ice time.

Brouwer played better with better linemates in Washington (Johansson/ Kuznetsov) and
St. L (Stasny / Backes). Just saying.

If you didn't realize the 3M line wasn't the first line last year then you've been napping.

Most teams have two scoring lines and a checking line and a fourth line. The Flames have a scoring line and a checking line that scores, that's a good thing, not a bad thing. The issue is the third line and finding some depth scoring.

That is what it is.... Can you win on a regular basis with a line that has 2 of the long term core players (13M) that isn't even the best line on the team?

I want the #1 line Gaudreau/Monahan to cause panic for the other team on a majority of their shifts.... think Sedin line .

When they came on against the Flames I was just hoping the Flames made it through their shift.

The Canucks never asked the Sedins to carry a Ferland around with them on a regular basis. Now that they are 4th line players they get Virtanen.

What the hell are you on? Ferland has a backhand top shelf goal and a primary assist in the last three games without even getting PP time. I doubt our PP would be as inept with him than without, considering he has more PP goals than Brouwer, Jagr, Frolik, Hamilton, Giordano, Backlund and just as many as Gaudreau, Monahan, Brodie, Tkachuk, and Versteeg.

It was not even close after the all star break last season when the Flames played like a top team

In the last 30 games Monahan/Gaudreau/Ferland 70 pts

Backlund/Tkachuk/Frolik 51 pts.

So Ferland does make the top line better?

I’m going to toss this one at the official that called Travis Hamonic for the slashing penalty. You have to have a better grasp on the game in that situation. Hamonic is hammered form behind without the puck and is mad, he lightly swings at the back of a guy’s skates and goes off. Send them both if you must but don’t alter the game like that.
Thank you

Just keep pulling out small sample sized examples and moving the goalposts.

In a season where the officiating has ranged between nauseating and rage-inducing, this might have been the worst call that I have witnessed.

And that is saying something.

The boos were getting quite loud on the broadcast before sound guy turned it way down, I can only imagine the fury that the C of Red must have felt watching the penalty on the replay.

Must have been like that time Bennett's goal was waved off vs ANA during Game 3.

It was the loudest moment of the evening.

And the fans backed it up with a full 2nd round of booing after then goal.

Hard to sugarcoat the result. The St. Louis loss was excused since it was the second of a back to back against a good team. This should have been a win against an average team playing a bad goalie.

Not much to say other than this team just doesn't seem very good right now.

Jesus this team has nothing close to a killer instinct.

While we are at it, how in the blue hell does that guy wailing on MT while he was down on the ground in the last few seconds result in coincedental minors????
