Why would they need hair extensions. I mean frankly they can stimulate healing of massive injuries with a beam of light.
I'm sure they have hair stiumlators, and probably instant color changes.
Picard was an anomaly that embraced his baldness.

Yes but in a friendly way. I respect your authority on all things ST and SW.

Also lol that’s almost exactly what my dad said when I mentioned the hair thing.

Episode 4 was the best episode of all 3 seasons by a country mile. Trills, laughs, emotion, uplifting stories, no conspiracies for the red haired pilot (yet). Just the human condition but in future and in space.

The least convincing part of that episode was Tilly not being a cat person.
The first 2/3rd was good, the last 3rd was bleh.

So I'm really starting to get sick of the Michael Burnham everything show. I was actually hoping she would leave the ship and go off on her own with Book, so that way we could get actually get some screen time and development of the other characters.

I was hoping that Saru would demote her to scrubbing garbage cans, but she's figure out a way to use the Garbage cans to defeat their enemies and send the ship back in time.

Finally got to see it. I thought it was a good episode. Definitely more episodic feeling now, this feels like something that could have been an STTNG episode. Burnham's mother being very Guinan-like.
Stamet's facial expressions could maybe change.
Felt a bit verklempt during Nimoy's holographic presence. I suppose this definitely confirms which Star Trek timeline we are in, since Vulcan still exists.

I thought it was ok, I think the previous episodes were better, and this was kind of a low point for me overall for the season, that's not saying its bad, it was just kind of bland and wandering.
Its interesting the whole debate that the Federation was putting pressure on lesser worlds to basically up their dilithium production, without caring about the effects of that need, and the whole needs of the many bit. It sounds like even without the burn, the Federation was heading towards big problems in keeping their citizens happy.

I was originally thinking somehow Burnham and Co caused "The Burn", but then over the course of the episode I started thinking about why the Vulcan's were okay taking the blame for the burn and not wanting to entertain theories to the contrary. It was similar thinking to the original Outer Limits episode or Watchmen, and the plot to achieve world peace and nuclear proliferation by focusing the world's efforts onto a common enemy.
I wouldn't be surprised if this is going to be a commentary about climate change or globalization, and the Vulcan's are accepting the blame for the burn. I think the data the president provided them with is going to conveniently point back at Vulcan as the source.

I have to admit, I got a little misty eyed as well during that scene.
That was another solid episode. The overall quality of this season has been really impressive, and I'm enjoying the hell out of it.

I wonder if we're going to learn about some of the species that I guess felt oppressed or used since Dilithium was becoming rare anyways, and this was a mass terrorism attack to throw off the oppressive Federation

There was that mention early on about time travel being outlawed, but still surprised nobody had gone back to try to investigate.

I know it's a 'branding' thing for shows, but them not wearing the most update to date Starfleet uniform bugs me. If you're trying to show your ancient crew can run with the modern fleet.... you should at least look the part.

Connecting 31st century replicators onto Discovery is like connecting an Ipad and a Commodore 64.

This latest episode while definitley not a good as the last few, is still on the right track and in no way terrible. The really are exploring the other characters more.
Also, love the tribute to Anton Yelchin.
(MB states the first black box was found on the USS Yelchin)

I'll disagree. I really liked that episode. Hit the cheese just right for me. Gave me TOS and DS9 vibes.

What do you think there are more of in all Star Trek episodes; featuring a trial like this, or having a Vulcan mind meld in it? For a minute I thought we'd get both on this one.

There was a plot-line in late TNG episodes about warp drive damaging space. Did they fix that somehow with non-damaging engines? I don't remember. If not, that could be motivation for someone to blow-up dilithium and ships travelling at warp.

Trials for the win. Half of TNGs episodes were trials, either due to Wesley mischief, Data creating a new forms, or Picard presiding over some dispute.
