It is pretty amazing what this team is showing. What a great game to watch and just the entire 3rd I had 100% confidence they'd win. I'm honestly pleasantly shocked at how good they look sans Giordano. I was totally wrong when I posted I thought his injury was the beginning of the end, as this group just continues to prove it's more of a team than anything.

Backlund at the end could have scored, makes a somewhat risky flip pass to get his teammate the empty netter. Just awesome times to be a Flames fan, and how can you not love this team. Stajan I thought looked great too.

I wrote it twice just in case you didn't believe it the first time.
Pretty sure the Flames just gained like five points of ground on the canucks in just a few days.

Vancouver was pretty far ahead a few days ago but there you go. Amazing how quickly things can turn.

Agreed - he is playing better with more ice time.

Can't really fault Hiller for the two goals, one was a breakaway and the other was a cross crease. The amount of rebounds still make my sphincter tighten, however.

Mike Backlund is an unbelievable asset for this team and exemplifies the meaning of team player. Great game from him. He appears to have outstanding character and anyone wishing for him to be traded or thinking he isn't important for this club needs to shake the cobwebs out of their head.

Yet, oddly, 2-6 in the first game of a back-to-back (and both the wins were in the shootout, and they went on to win the next night after travelling).

This team just can't do anything that makes sense.

Wow. Did not expect that one. Great win, great team effort.

Ended up being a great game by Hiller, 33 saves, .943 sv%. Faced a ton of point blank shots tonight, especially in the first half of the game.

Wideman-Russell both with 26+ minutes, kudos again.

Engelland has been solid in eating up the minutes with Brodie. Just another example of guys stepping up when we need them.

Schlemko still not with a ton of icetime for a defender, 13 minutes, but he's looking like a great waiver wire pickup. 13 is still way better than the 7 minutes we got from Potter.

Monahan 60% on the dot. Wow.

Unbelievable. Every reason to lose, and a big two points. Literally every reason to lose, no one woulda been upset, and it just drives them.

I have not seen heart like ths since 04. And I'm not saying the circumstances are similar, or the end result will be similar.

But just the unabashed drive. Pure heart. They are playing with a chip, they want to thumb noses at doubters (Bingo? )

So proud of this team. So in love with this team.

Let's make all remaining home games especially loud eh? They deserve it.

PS, this is a statement game that the league will talk about. 'What's up with the Flames?'

Loving it!!!

TLR - Flames win Edm sucks

So I've had my first experience with a delusional Oilers fan tonight.

I am up here in Edmonton working for the next few days and decided to take on Edmonton fine dining (BP's) during an Oilers game night for the first time. I walk in with my Flames hat on and sit at the bar.

Two seats down is a half cut (it's 5:30) Oiler fan. We start watching the game with me just keeping to myself. He starts talking trash to the bartender about how bad the Flames are and how they are just a fluke. Detroit scores their goals and I almost mistook him for a closet Red Wing fan for how loud he cheered.

Meanwhile I just sit back and drink my beer and eat my ribs knowing it's all good. By the 3rd Flames goal I just look over at the guy and the look on his face was priceless. Just a dumbfounded look of wtf he couldn't even stay in the bar anymore. The guy immediately asks for his tab and leaves in a huff.

Not sure if this post contributed anything, but I did love the feeling of sticking it to oiler fans even when we didn't play each other

Honest to god it looks like we have our very own Jonathan Toews in Sean Monahan!

LOL for S&G's I went to HF Canucks and surprisingly that thread where you plucked that Canucks fan comment they are talking about how Horvat is better or going to be better than Monahan. What's next are they going to campaign for Burrows to get in the hockey HOF? Just when you thought Canucks fans couldn't more foolish.

Wasn't able to watch this one. Sounds like Shore and Schlemko have been pretty astute pickups so far?

Good to see the Flames get back to what they do best: keep it close through 40, then bury 'em in the 3rd period.

At the beginning of this year, how many of us thought we'd be holding our breath when Russell, then Wideman, went down the tunnel after blocking hard shots? Great to see those two step up in Gio's absence.
