Highwood is fun. I did it a couple years ago. It's the right amount of challenge. i want to try it again now that I'm carrying about 15-20lbs less than I was.
I rode the north side with a fully loaded steel framed touring bike, so I know I can make it up. Question is, can I make it up in a somewhat competitive time after cycling 60km uphill prior to the big climb?
I passed 10,000km today. I held off using the trainer so I could do it on this trip to Arizona.
Today I rode from our place in Arizona to Nevada, down to California and back to Arizona. The ride was only 78km to see all three states and 862m in elevation. This place is all hills and wind so it was a grind for the last 15km of hills and into headwind. It's not a road cycling area either so there are some sketchy shoulders to slow down on.
Just got back from a spin thru fish creek on the fatty and while the trails are nicely plowed, the single track Reaganism a challenge despite increased evidence of more foot and bike traffic.
Single track is about 10 inches across, and if you wander out of that your shell will wash out in all of the loose snow. I can’t decide if the snow on the rutted single track is still so loose because of the temps and lack of traffic and the fact the recent snow has been nothing but powder.
You really need man quads to enjoy the single track, but once you get in there it is so pretty and quiet.

Moose Bicycle have just intro'd new Fat Bike they have at intro price.
- looks like some better specs
- It's a 1x10
- hydraulic brakes
Some components are their own brand, so not sure what that would be like.
Still would prefer to buy from LBS, but looks to be decent value.
Thoughts?

Anyone take the Moose Bikes plunge since I posted this last year.
Still want a fat bike and haven't yet taken the plunge, but may do so in next couple of weeks.
Am I a bad person because I want to throw an old hockey stick through the e-bike guy's spokes when he flies past me unannounced for the umpteenth time?
Awesome, I just ordered an ebike. Can't wait to be this guy. I'll be like George Jetson to your guys' Fred Flintstones.

Just ring a bell when you fly past us.
I've got nothing against ebikes. If I get to the point where I'm not physically able to ride like I can now I'll think about getting one. The biggest reason I ride (outside of fitness) is to explore. Ebikes would help me do that more.

I have not seen many moose bikes out on the trail, but that is a great entry level price. Norco bigfoot 2 is in that price range as well, not sure what other models are out there in that range as well.
