Rakell is having a pretty decent year. Atkinson's contact will be ugly next year with his ratings drop. If Atkinson was in an expiring contact that would allow the Wings to grid him at a low cost, I'd consider it for sure as I think this is just an off year. I don't think Pitlick is enough to make up for next year's ratings and the age difference.

I am guessing Detroit thinks Atkinson can regain form and be a 30 goal guy and Pitlick is a pretty decent prospect. Close enough for me.
