Default October 12 with thirteen games!

It's a busy Saturday OOT with a morning game and matinees to start the day off.

The Oilers are at MSG again on the same weekend as last year.
Many of us here would like to see the Oilers get beaten while having breakfast or brunch.

It would be nice to see the Oilers start a 5 game losing streak

Oilers lose. Neal is a -4 and also someone discovers he wore a problematic hallowe'en costume 15 years ago or something.

I think the Jets are going to surprise a lot of people this year. I think the playoffs are still a question mark. But the defense is performing to a higher level than I was expecting. They're smaller but also more mobile more talented. Our old d was overpaid for their performance, happy to start from scratch with Morrissey as the #1

First shift of the game and Zibanejad burns away from McDavid for a partial breakaway chance.

Kaapo Kakko (set up by ex-Oiler Strome) scores a really nice goal. His first. 1-0 NYR

Kakko with a beautiful NHL-first against Smith, who finishes off the shot swimming on his chest.

Beautiful goal, Smith was going the complete opposite direction.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

It isn't just that there are so many personnel changes, it is that they have completely disrupted their identity. The Jets were an extremely heavy and hard team to play against - maybe the heaviest in the league. That bought a lot of space for guys like Ehlers and Connor. I think they will notice the change this year.

No question that the entire league has moved to smaller, faster, more mobile D. However, I think the Jets' heavy D was an advantage form them.

As for the way they are playing so far, I think October is the softest, least intense hockey of the season, where rookies and less physical players have the most success. But the physicality and intensity ratchet up as the season goes on. For me, we won't know what the Jets have on D until post New Year, and post all-star game.

I don't share your faith.

Even in Morrissey. He is a great player, but he is going to garner a LOT more attention this year. We shall see if that wears on him and on his play.

Yeah that's totally fair and I'm not sure what the results will be. What I was saying though was for what they earned and cap hit wise, our D was always statistically back-middle of the pack. I think at best a wild card spot is a coin flip this season, but I'm happy to see us moving in a new direction in the back end.
