He's a really nice guy, hope he finds a role somewhere that he's comfortable with

I know its not Troy's fault, but somewhere like 2nd line wing across from James Neal 3 hours to the north?

The sad part is that as done as Brouwer is he'd be an upgrade on most of their roster.

Too bad for Troy but this is the way it now is for old and/or washed up guys.

Hope he enjoys the next chapter of his athletic life whether it's overseas hockey , early retirement or perhaps lower level senior AAA hockey.

Do the Oilers even have contract space to add another guy? Aren't they at like 49 deals?

They are at 48 right now. I think the bigger issue is they are still 500k over the cap. Sure one of their scrubs will be demoted to get them under by a couple 100k, but with Smith probably the starter, they are pretty much all but guaranteed to have cap overage. Barring an injury I can't see any reason Smith doesn't hit 41 games and collects that 1M bonus.

You mean you don't anticipate Koskinen stepping up and stealing the #1 spot?
What if they tied his glove to the crossbar?

Right, but I believe that you can slide those bonuses over to next year's cap.

You can, but that doesn't exactly help a cap team when the follow year they are working with less. Double hit if the cap increase is flat.

Don't feel bad for the guy. He is still enjoying $1.5 million per year for the next 3 years from the Flames...
