FWIW, after 6 games last year he had 4 goals. Not at Neal’s level this year but significant. And they were all even strength.

A lot of wide open hockey, and my guys were lucky that Crawford was as good as he was. It is hard to believe that a lot of 'Hawk fans want to see the guy gone, after a slow start to the season. For me, it is, and has NOT, been goaltending, either last season, or so far, this season. Bad turnovers, and poor coverage has made the 'Hawk goaltending have worse numbers than they deserve.

Neal might score 20 but I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended the season with 25 points.

The Oilers' PP has gone 8 for 20 so far, for a 40% pace (2nd in the league)

The Oilers' PK has gone 19 for 20 so far, 95% (2nd in the league).

Along with having terrible advanced stats, sky-high shooting percentage, and a crazy PDO, their goals for and against on special teams so far this year is 8-1.

The PP isn't sustainable, the PK isn't sustainable, the shooting percentage isn't sustainable, the PDO isn't sustainable...

The PK has been interesting because they have been really aggressive. This tends to be a very effective strategy in October, because most PPs aren't in full gear yet. So pressure causes them problems. Once PPs start to react to the pressure, their lack of talent on the blue-line will start to show.

I wonder if the Oilers special teams have been so good in large part because all the teams they have played thus far are really bad. Most terrible teams also have terrible special teams.

It's a factor for sure.

The combined record of the teams they have played so far is 10-15-1

The Oilers loss leaves two teams that have not lost in regulation time. The Sabres won 4-0 over the Stars and the Avalanche crushed the Capitals 6-3, Kadri and Rantanen each had three points.

The Devils are the only team left without a win of any kind.
