I'd actually be in favor of giving up our automatic spot in the Gold Cup and have us play for a spot through one of the existing competitions. Gives us extra games that are worth a bunch of points and are an opportunity to cap tie young players and if we aren't good enough to get through either of those competitions we probably can't complain about missing out on the Gold Cup.

Canada kicks off 2018 World cup Qualifying against Dominica tonight in the opening leg. Also, the Dominicans are known as the Nature Boyz, and those Rolex wearin, kiss steelin, wheelin dealin, limousine ridin, jet flyin sons of a gun won't know what hit em.

Given that Canada does not have any broadcast rights with any company, they will try and stream the game tonight online. Kick off is at 7pm eastern time.

Forza Canada!

fyp.

In all fairness though, how are we looking this go around? I can't imagine our odds are as good as last time?

I don't think there's any chance we make the hex this go around. But, my opinion on that could change if we get some good results in this round and the Gold Cup.

There are a lot of good young pieces on this team that will be around for the next decade. Doneil Henry (22) and Samuel Piette (20) are absolute studs with a lot of international experience even at their young age. Larin (20), Teibert (22), Osorio (23) and Akindele (23) will be around for a long time as well.

Starting lineup is out. Of note, Akindele is now cap-tied, and that is important as he had accepted a US national team callup in January. Really looking forward to seeing the partnership of Larin and Akindele; Akindele was the MLS rookie of the year last year and Larin will probably be the MLS rookie of the year this year.

Looks like there will be a stream for the game. Link is as follows:

With some luck we could make the hex. But, right now, I'd say it's a bit unlikely. We'd need some fence sitters to hop on board to jump to top 6.

And let's be honest, those fence sitters aren't coming

Canada up 1-0 at halftime. Larin with the goal. Scoreline flatters the Nature Boyz. Could be 3-0 or 4-0 right now.

2-0 Canada the final. Goals by Larin and Teibert. Not the greatest contest but a win nonetheless.

Borjan picked up a red as he handled the ball outside of the penalty area, not his fault though as de Guzman made a terrible error that sent in a Dominican all alone. The Dominican keeper made 2 or 3 fantastic saves, and the Reds hit a post.

Teibert has been really good for the 'Caps this season. I hope he can translate that into strong performances for Canada. It could make a huge difference to have a player that could bring energy and composure to the midfield. It's exciting to have a player like Larin, too, who is actually a decent goal threat. I'm excited for this qualifying campaign.

The live stream link that Shermanator posted now has the full match available to watch on demand. Here it is again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKRjrCrPIBM

I wasn't able to watch last night, so I'll keep this rolling while here at work and I can glance over when things get exciting.

Have to give major props to Gavin Day at the CSA for last night's work. He was doing PBP, camera work, and tweeting about the game at the same time. Also, to give a warning, the camera work does not always follow the play due to the previous sentence.

^ Great job considering all of that. I didn't realize he was tweeting as well! I can understand why it would be cost prohibitive to send a broadcast crew there, especially for an early-round qualifier like this, but the stream really is a lot better than nothing.

I liked the way Larin and Akindele looked up front, even if it's against inferior opposition. Hopefully the two youngsters can lead us to the promise land!

Yep - that's all correct. The CSA's site has said there will be a stream. Good stuff!

Starting XI for Canada today. Stama is out with Borjan having received a red last game. Morgan and Edgar (who are higher up the depth chart) in for James and Ouimette. Osorio in for Teibert. Can't wait to see Larin and Akindele again!

Would like to see Mallan Roberts get a few minutes at the end to cap-tie him for Canada, he's been linked to Sierra Leone's national team in the past while he was obtaining citizenship.

Is anyone able to get the stream? I can't seem to locate it, but I'm away from a computer and relying on the iPad, which could be the problem.

So far nothing on the CSA site or YouTube channel for me.

Edit: Nevermind! Found it. Here's a mobile friendly link if anyone else is on a mobile device: http://vpcms.istreamplanet.com/newsc...tadiumDigd4443
