By all means Nurse is a Norris candidate, his numbers have nothing to do with McDavid
8x8

Are they going to have any money left after they give Barrie the Pietrangelo deal? Chabot and Pietrangelo, pretty good top pair!

8 x 8 is the new 6 x 6.
Once they sign Nurse and the tenderness and Smith, will they even be able to roll 2 lines?

Heh, reminds me of playing NHL '96 without line changes.

Better lock him up before they rename the award to the Nurris Trophy!

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. A third of my life the Coilers have been “building something special”.

They better get Kostin'em some starts soon, when Smith falls apart in the playoffs he'll need to be ready to take the net.

All I can get
|
<--- no good.
Saw this on Twitter...
A historical marker on the pavement in the Brewery District, near where the press conference announcing the Great Gretzky Trade was made. The actual venue long since gone.
(Handy location for drunks to urinate or vomit on, though).
I just find this a little weird. But very on-brand Edmonton.

Best news of the day. 8 x 8 for nurse, holy god they would be in cap hell for McDavid's contract length at least, probably more.

This is normal Oilers...float 8x8...sign 7x7...and then run around telling everyone about the massive discount they got...

once they get Nurse signed long term, there is no telling how many great feee agents will take the minimum to be a part of "something special" that is brewing up there.

Creative Trade Strategy Oilers Can Use to Move James Neal
https://thehockeywriters.com/edmonto...rade-strategy/
"Trade James Neal + draft pick for 50% salary retained to team B, then team B retains another 50% and trades to Team C. Team C buys out Neal's contract and the Oilers are on the hook for $960k/year over 4 year buyout."
I don't see what's in it for Team C. They get some asset from team B and a $480k/year buyout penalty for 4 years? And why would Team B trade for Neal to end up also with a $480k/year buyout cap hit?
When a team trades for something, they want value back. In the Foligno and Savard trades, those players were roster players with value. Trading for Neal just to buy him out? Why?
That's some pretty stupid level Oiler logic.
