Shoppers Drug Mart was selling the seasons for $15 a piece so my wife picked up all five for my birthday.
I can't wait to re-watch them.

I never did watch this show. I feel like a I should though because every time I am watching another show, my wife always points out people in it who were on The Wire. It sounds like that show sparked a lot of careers.

At this point I think The Walking Dead has at least 3.

I think a lot of it is HBO, it seems if your an actor they are a good network to be involved with, they re-use people they like

I like the footnote "Apologies that J.D. Williams is out of alphabetical order". It's like they spent days making the chart, then noticed that J.D. Williams wasn't included, and had to stick him at end. It even looks like The Wire and Zeljko Ivanek are lined up, and J.D. Williams appended afterwards.

That's totally something I'd do

It is best viewed in Binge fashion, otherwise, important subtleties can be lost.

3-4 episodes at a time, otherwise, I imagine it can be a little difficult to access.

The first time I watched it I got to about episode 6 before stopping because it felt disjointed and wasn't drawing me in.

Now, it's my favourite TV show.

I never got into it either, and made it a little further (maybe 8 or 9) before giving it up. I may give it another shot.

Got to the third season before I stopped the first two were such masterpieces luckily it picked up in season five if this show was broadcast around 2009 it would still be continuing and more popular than GOT and Walking Dead.

What?! ... Season 3 is the best season imo and season 5 is easily the weakest.

Season 2 is my 'favourite' season, but I'm warming up to the idea that season 3 is the "Best" season.

I really liked Season 2 as well. A lot of people has it as their least favourite, but it's right up there with the rest for me. A really interesting look at the collapse of the blue collar job base. Rarely touched on on TV, which is why I thought it was awesome.

I honestly don't think there is a "weak" season among them. There are so many ebbs and flows throughout, that it doesn't make much sense to label any of them as a lesser season. At first I didn't take to season two since it was such a drastic change to the first. Then I had mixed feeling for season four, since McNulty is reduced to secondary character, but after my third or fourth go around I realized he wasn't one of my favorite characters anyway, so the show wasn't negatively effected.

But now that I've binge watched the series half a dozen times there's very little to not love about the show. It looks like I'll be watching it again (I last watched it two months ago), and I can't wait.

Spoiler!

MOD EDIT: Please put spoiler tags around vids next time. Thanks.

I have previously removed my video on page 1. But if you are in a thread about any tv show or movie and you decide to play a video in the thread, you have made your own bed.

Especially when the show is 12 years old and ended almost 7 years ago.

Understanding that each season of the Wire has a different theme helped elevate the show for me while I was watching it.

http://thewire.wikia.com/wiki/Themes <-- this is a plot-spoiler free overview of the themes

I don't binge watch shows. Except this one. I'd watch one episode and I'd just keep going. Suddenly it was 3 am and I'm working in 4 hours. Incredible show.

Season 1 marathon in HD starts tonight on Bravo (NYE). Firing up the PVR. Don't know why HBO Canada isn't airing it, but the fact that Crave is carrying the whole series probably a major factor.

That's too bad that HBO Canada isn't doing it. Hopefully Bravo doesn't edit it or cut out scenes to fit commercials.
