Is that a limitation they have implemented on the Telus app? I haven't tried Netflix on my BluRay player yet to see if there is any difference.

I have never once seen on demand content come through with anything other than 2 channel audio.

Well, I will stick to my Roku as well. But technically 720p should give you higher definition video than 1080i (720 lines of resolution vs. 540)

I really don't think telus should be able to advertise their services as HD. Its barely SD.

That statement is based on what?

1080i produces higher resolution frames than 720p. It just produces fewer frames.

Guessing Wooohooo is pointing out the criminal amount of compression they use.
Whenever I switch from my PS3 or AppleTV back to Telus Optik, I get upset all over again at how bad the channels look.
Not an issue of resolution - I would be fine with a reasonable amount of compression on a 720p signal.

Anyone have or know of any good deals in Calgary for good Internet/TV rates/bundles (willing to sign up to a 1 year agreement)...contact me if you know of anything. Thanks.
Not looking for anything fancy, just trying to find the cheapest rate for internet/cable.

Got a survey request from Telus regarding Optik and Sports coverage.
From the way they worded all their questions, Sportsnet is asking for more money from providers and as a result Telus is looking at passing that increase onto it's customers.

Telus is in a very bad position among all of the ISPs/TV providers in Canada. They do not own any content whatsever so it really kills their negotiating power whenever they come around to renewing deals for these types of things

Another one of my remotes is starting to wear out unfortunately.
Where would I have to go to get a new one?
Can I still get one of the old style remotes?

No surprise that SN is jacking its rates after the NHL deal.

With Telus beginning to charge for overages come July 1 in Calgary, what other options do we Calgarians have for internet?
a 250GB cap is ridiculous in this day and age - as is the $15/month additional charge you can agree to, to get unlimited service.

Further to that - does anyone know when Telus fibre will 'cross the river' and migrate outwards to the 'burbs?
This map shows that the inner city NW/NE has been pretty built out, but nothing's crossed south of the Bow...

Here's the fix:
1. Call Telus.
2. Wait on hold.
3. Wait for a few minutes more, or considerably longer.
4. Tell whoever you talk to that you're cancelling on account of the data cap.
5. Tell them yes, you're aware other companies have data caps too, thank you, please just send me to your cancellation people.
6. Wait on hold.
7. Tell whoever you talk to that you're cancelling on account of the data cap.
8. Tell them yes, you're aware other companies have data caps too, thank you, please just cancel my account.
At this point, if you've been a customer for any length of time, they'll probably just offer you unlimited data for free (at least for 6 months). It worked for me and about a half dozen colleagues of mine.

I believe that map just shows where they are going out to old communities and building out Fibre.
Don't think it includes some of the newer communities that already have fibre from day 1.
