Breakdancing Breaking into the Olympics

Breakdancing has been added as an Olympic sport for the 2024 games being held in Paris.
The decision was confirmed by the International Olympic Committee on Monday, as it seeks to attract a younger audience to the historic competition.
hmmmmm, it certainly requires skill and fitness.
There are many other sports that are less deserving to be in the Olympics.

nah, I'd get rid of all sports where medals are awarded based on judging with marks.
Too many instances of outright corruption.
Now if it was mortal kombat breakdancing, I'd be in.

Did they apply in 1980 and finally got approved? Breakdancing is still a thing?

They'll probably find a way to make it incredibly lame, to. Like you have to follow an exact set of routines, and everyone's dance looks the same, being marked for minor technical deductions that no one can see, and a random bias for "artistic merit" that is weighted the same as technical aspects.

I wander what performance enhancing methods are legal, or illegal.

They have to allow foxy-boxing, too.

What a stupid thing... They said it's to "bring in younger viewers to the Olympics".... OK, then might as well have eSports then instead.
What segment of the younger population cares about break-dancing??

The more they try to widen their relevance the less relevant the Olympics become

Any kind of dancing should be nowhere near the Olympics. Judged sports in general should GTFO.

Heh, judged sports should just be relabeled Political Intrigue and have the commentators highlight the backroom deals and bribery that garnered a particular score. Would kill in the ratings, more tactical than curling.

There was a great short story on that and I wish that I could remember the author. Swimmers with flipper feet and blow holes. Sprinters with springs surgically implanted in their legs.
The last event was between a Russian and American boxer. The Russian was on all the drugs and a monster. The American a tiny skinny guy, the Russian battered him through the fight and eventually died of a heart attack because American surgeons had transplanted his brain to his a$$ and couldn't be knocked out.
