Not saying you have to love his comedies, but he's done some pretty good movies too.

The only one of that list that I liked was Sunshine and in that case it was in spite of him, not because of him.
Remarkably I didn't mind the Incredible Burt Wonderstone or whatever it was.
But apart from that - ugh.
On a related note
- Anything with Mike Myers.
He's terrible.

ahhhhh I totally forgot Hurt Locker. I didn't think I had a movie everyone loved that I hated but yeah, this is totally it.
What a pile of crap, especially when everyone was praising how "realistic" it was, and it was the most unrealistic crap ever.
"Durp ... lets have a bomb disposal unit just turn into a sniper team ... Durp ... lets make trained soldiers think splitting up at night in the streets of Baghdad is a good idea" ugh.

This movie was awesome. Especially the CIA asset handler, he was such a cowboy

Agree with the video guy about Gladiator. Hated it.
The big one for me, however, is Titanic. The effects and sets were nice but the story relied on cliche and stereotypes. There was nothing original nor endearing about it. What was worse was the critical acclaim and box office success. The only positive was that *spoiler alert* Leo's character dies. When James Cameron won the Oscar for it and started his speech with a moment of silence for the victims of Titanic I almost threw my remote through the TV. Seriously? Those people died probably before his parents were born, they've been given memorials all over the world and the victims stories have been told more times than Leo yelled "Rose!". The moment of silence was just so Hollywood fake, pretentious d-bag. At the end of it I felt like there should have been a moment of silence for the real victims: people that were subjected to the movie, the Oscar speech and Camerons ego. I still can't believe it won the Oscar.

No.

Of course it was dark; it's a suicide not.

The Shrek movies are spectacularly bad. I get that they started the whole "pop culture" in animated movies vibe, but I would never show them to my kids.
Some others:
True Lies
The Blindside
Pirates of the Caribbean (fell asleep watching the first one)
Anything with Johnny Depp post Sleepy Hollow
Brazil (need to watch it again though)
Mr. and Mrs. Smith
RocknRolla (took a piss on Lock Stock and Snatch)
Dead Poets Society
My Cousin Vinny
Minority Report (the ending is awful)
Out of Africa (couldn't get through 30 minutes)
The English Patient
Battle Royale

I am not a fantasy movie guy so I didn't enjoy the Lord of the Rings.
Avatar bored me to the point that I took a short nap in the theatres and it gave me a headache from trying to watch 3D for 2.5 hours.
I've tried watching Pulp Fiction several times but have never been able to finish it. Tarantino just isn't for me.
I had high expectations for Slumdog Millionaire but it didn't do much for me.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that it was produced in conjunction with Fox News?

Is it a crime to not like Slap Shot btw? Huge Paul Newman fan, but outside of him the movie is not very good. I actually didn't like Butch Cassidy either, but that's another movie I need to rewatch one of these days, as I was probably too young when I watched it last.
Don't want to create a new post again, but +1 to what bosox_fan05 said. The Breakfast Club is a movie I do legitimately hate, and Rain Man is pretty marginal as well. Never understood why Hoffman won best actor for it.

I can see this thread isn't going to end well. When you tell someone they hate something you absolutely love they get pissed, and probably for no good reason.
Tracker, you definitely need to watch Brazil again and remember that Terry Gilliam is a crazy man when watching it. Great future dystopian comedy.
As for the review in the OP, that guy is annoying as hell. His criticisms on some films are well founded, but most of his critiques are about how the film compares to other movies/ other stories, and tiny insignificant details that don't matter. What an incredibly annoying individual.
Speaking of stupid reasons to not like a movie, I also hated Titanic, but more because I was working in a theatre when it came out and when you pack a room with a bunch of middle aged humans who are emotional for 3+ hours, they emit what I can only describe as a "stench of humanity" that is utterly repulsive when you have to clean the room afterwards. That and that goddam annoying Celine Dion song over the closing credits. I just can't watch it now without that visceral reaction. Sad really.

I can't understand how anyone could hate Fight Club, a film thoroughly brilliant on so many levels.
One of my top picks for atrocious movie that so many seem to like is The Dark Knight Rises. What a complete steaming pile of crap, it succeeded and is highly rated because of the previous two Nolan Batman films. People really really wanted to love the movie, and end up doing just that despite the fact that the movie is poorly acted, directed, has a bombastic score that tries to insert epic into moronic. I hope I never see a single frame of that movie again.
I have high hopes for Interstellar, Christopher Nolan is a much better director than his mail in effort on TDKR. Unfortunately Nolan seems to be in love with certain actors and uses them whether they are a fit or not.

I liked Fight Club, but I can understand why people wouldn't. It's pretty sanctimonious.

I liked Dark Knight Rises, although I am tired of defending it these days, some people are just overly judgmental in certain cases. It had problems, but I love the scope and ambition the movie had. Some people seem to just nitpick it to death, but I don't mind overlooking certain aspects just because of what Nolan was trying to attempt. I would blame some of the story issues on David S Goyer, who is a terrible writer by all accounts. All I know is that Goyer directed Blade: Trinity, The Unborn, and The Invisible, which all three were abysmal movies, so in all likelihood he is mostly to blame.
I would agree Dark Knight is kind of overrated though, as it does have some of the same problems DKR has in that it tries to accomplish so much in only one film, and doesn't succeed in everything. The series would have been much better off had Nolan dealt with the Two Face character differently, and not made a poor decision in killing him off at the end. Although who knows what changed when Ledger died; Nolan may have been forced into a corner and was forced to go in a different direction than he originally planned.

Or in your case, overly judgmental for half the movies out there. I agree with one thing on your list though, anything with Sean Penn in it for me is a refuse to watch situation.
