Yah I have a large contingent of family and Texas and agree with you.

We normally go to Texas 4-5 times a year, can agree this is not a sentiment we have ever felt.

I have a Texan visit me at my office +/-once / year.
And he just raves about how much he loves Albertans. "Feels like home".

Not sure I know any other Texans.

This thread reminds me of a couple of old Bob Hope jokes:

"I knew a guy that was so rich he bought a boy for his dog"

"I knew a guy that was so rich he wrote a cheque and the bank bounced"

I know a guy whose father owns a pop company (now public). They were low level billionaires, I think, certainly not millionaires. We could be hanging out and his dad would say he wanted to go fishing, suddenly we are limo’d to my place to pack and then private jet to a yacht. Other times, Europe. Had lunch at Picasso’s house with his daughter or sister or something where they shopped his art.

They are very generous and aware, running charities. They are no longer in Calgary.

I am not sure that is a compliment.

One of my second cousins married into an absurdly wealthy family here in town. The times I've met her husband he was super friendly and easy to chat with. One thing I did notice was they were always super sharply dressed, nothing flashy but just well made properly tailored looks.

We had a widowed great aunt in common, and I will always be thankful for all the things they did for her in her later years. It was obviously no problem for them, but it warmed my heart to see.

I have no idea. It's just a comment he made as one of the reasons he's selling all of his properties down there. Downtown Whitefish was no longer fun to them. Whether it's because of that or not, I don't know. Just something he mentioned.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense really. When we owned in Whitefish, the only #######s were the Calgarians that came down. The town itself and the people were generally pretty awesome. Similar to Helena. I love the people in Helena. Sure the voted Trump, but I've never felt so welcome in a place as a complete stranger.
