EDIT: I will say, that every year since 2000, the person elected President has been named Person of the Year so it's not THAT out there.

Bad pick - I'm disappointed. The year 2020 will live on for a long time and when we look back the thing that will dominate 2020 is COVID, not Biden winning the election.

Seems like whomever wins the US election always wins person of the year. Here are the winners from election years in the 21st century:

2020: Biden & Harris
2016: Trump
2012: Obama
2008: Obama
2004: Bush
2000: Bush

The story was much more about Trump losing the election than Biden winning it, Biden himself didn't really do anything that noteworthy: his biggest stories centered on his gaffes, corruption, hiding or how awesome it is that he isn't Trump.

Disappointed as well that another politician is chosen. I'm of the same mind as GGG to be honest, "underpaid essential service workers (logistics and food supply) would better than medical workers. They are the backbone that kept the world from crumbling this year." That would be my top choice.
