We have a ton of depth at defense and needed to shore up the forwards and add some youth. Bonino has a big contract but he had 18 goals in 67 games this year, pretty good. The team looks a lot more balanced now:

I think Nashville did good here too. Picked up the best player in the trade. He’s added some great pieces since taking over.

I just dislike having pending UFAs... I gave up a 1st for EK and I feel like the assets I got back are collectively worth quite a bit more than that.

But make no mistake EK is a stud.
