"Cancel culture" isn't a thing despite middle-aged comedians trying to pretend it is.

Well people also got over Clinton’s impeachment long ago but it got dug back up

Can those organizations revisit their decisions in light of new evidence and social sensitivities?

It’s just a dumb name people coined, but the prevalence of people going nuts on Twitter, writing endless think pieces about problematic art, calling for punishment in the wake of old scandals is DEFINITELY a thing.

Sometimes it’s justified (Gillis) and sometimes it’s not (Chapelle). What IS made up about it and what even posters here don’t understand, is that it’s not a deciding factor. If the outrage culture goes nuts over something and the general public thinks it’s fine, you’re gonna be fine.

Fairly underwhelming premiere.

Same old Trump by Alec Baldwin.

Brief cameos by Liev Schreiber and Larry David were good. Never liked Maya Rudolph.

Weekend Update cut short. Kenan Thompson doing the same stuff.

No Pete Davidson.

Best was the wardrobe lady running in to try and get Aidy Bryant's jacket during a scene change completely on camera. Aidy shooed her away and couldn't stop laughing the rest of the scene.

Larry David's Bernie impression was top notch as always, but the rest of the episode was pretty sub-par. Season premieres always tend to be rough outings. As usual I'm sure they'll get better as they get back into the swing of things.

Baldwin's Trump isn't funny anymore. You can tell he's just phoning it in at this point.

Just an awful episode. The only skits that worked were the non political ones. Coach and Apple Picking. I laughed out loud with those. Also was not a fan of short weekend update. It seemed to just be getting into it and it was done. Tough start.

Didn't he recently say he'd rather die than do it again? I was surprised to see him doing it

Baldwin? He's made dozens of comments about not wanting to do it anymore, thinking it was stupid etc since like the second time he played him. He's just yapping as his actions obviously say differently.

Almost every celebrity wants to do things that make them more famous regardless of what they claim.

Could be that he continues to do a favour for his long time friends at SNL?

I agree it's overdone now. It was great during the election and maybe for a few skits thereafter, but it's a bit tired. Could also be that we're just so tired of him (Trump) too. Literally every comedy show is about him.

Norm MacDonald put it best - Donald Trump is great for bad comedians and writers.

I am sick of almost every opening being about Trump. Seems like really low hanging fruit.

Woody as Biden was funny: "Look, I'm like a plastic straw. I've been around forever. I always worked but now you're mad at me."

Norm on the mark, just like his comments on Bill Cosby.

I agree with Exclaim review:
Quote:
Bowen Yang came in and just destroyed, playing a Chinese trade representative named Chen Biao. Yang was a comedic force, delivering every line like a seasoned, theatrical performer and the desk hadn't seen the likes of such a charismatic and hilarious correspondent since maybe Bill Hader's Stefon. Just remarkably written and performed; Yang is a breakout star, two episodes into the season.

Pete has been MIA for first two shows.

Good show, especially the first half including Weekend Update. Great monologue by Waller-Bridge. I didn't mind Taylor Swift's songs, and Nwodim was finally funny

Yup, I was laughing out loud during that one. Very funny sketch.
