No one ever said "damn, I wish I had fewer outlets at this work bench."

Nice thing about DIY, outlet hardware is cheap, so why not?

Are you using the entire area as a shop? Or are you also parking a vehicle in it?

Most of the time it will be 2 vehicles and a shop, unless I really need more space. I wish it was only for projects!

It’s still sitting at the same spot I left it. Just more stuff in it.

I’d say so. I have the interior walls to finish, but that’s a winter job. Too many bikes to build and fix

Wow what stuff you use? I want to epoxy mine

What’s with the gap under your side door? Inviting mice in for a party? Or are you closing it up with some clay?

I used the Rokrez kits from Costco. Best price I could find on 100% solids epoxy. I got the top coat from PSC in Calgary, you may want to price out the epoxy from them as well, it may be similar price to Costco. Had I known about them before I bought Rokrez I would have checked them out.

I'll put a weatherstrip on it, I wanted to do the floors first. It's a heavy duty fire rated door from a bank, so it was a touch shorter than the frame but weather stripping will close the gap nicely.

But did you put a loonie in the centre before you lacquered it?

I snuck in in the middle of the night and hid an Oilers logo there.

I purposefully put an Oilers logo in my basement, and coincidentally that’s where they seem to stay!

Fuzz:

Did you put a vapour barrier under the slab?

Yup, 10mm. The engineer required it, the concrete guy bitched about it, and I'm happy it is there now!

Yeah, if you are putting an epoxy floor then it is absolutely necessary. If you are putting something breathable on it like a sealer, then you probably don't need the vapour barrier.

Hey, to avoid hot tire pick up of the epoxy where you park your cars, I have a method I came up with that works well. First, hang a tennis ball or whatever so you park in the exact same spot every time. Where your tires are going to be, use these clear bath tub mats. They're cheap, and they have little suction cups on the bottom so they stay put. I've tried so many things, but these are the best.

This link is for bigger ones than what I bought, but it'll give you the idea. I think I spent about $8 per mat. This linked one you could probably cut in half so four mats would do eight tires/two vehicles.

Thanks, that should work well for the oil spot under my truck....

Do you have an issue with hot tire pickup? I had read that was only a problem with the cheap water based epoxies so I wasn't going to worry about it.

I do have a problem with it. My slab or whatever you call it is from 1969 and it had been sealed at some point in its life. I prepped, and etched and scraped, and did everything I was supposed to, but still have a problem. Don't know if it was bad prep, the old sealer, the age of the slab, or the product I used. I did rustoleum two-part epoxy, which overall I'm really happy with.

I used a more industrial epoxy on the floors at my shop at work, and there is some hot tire pick up there as well. After all the work you're putting in, I wouldn't take any chances and would put tire mats down. When I google around, no matter what product you use, you'll always find someone that had hot tire pick up. When you pull in on that cold slab in winter with hot tires, idk.

Ya, I didn't read good things about the Rustoleum stuff, and you probably don't have vapour barrier, but ya, I should probably be careful with it.
