What are you getting fit for?
If at all possible, I'd do it outside.

I've done fittings with Simply Golf in the past (although not since they've moved to the dome). I agree that outside fittings are better but I do like Simply Golf better than Ted. I am sure Ted is fully knowledgeable but every time I've gone there he's been a grumpy old pr*ck so haven't bothered spending much time or money there.

Shot 97 at Silverwing yesterday. Not the greatest course but they have some decent deals periodically and my son wanted to take me out for Father's Day so who's to complain. My driving has been much better this year (starting to hit fairways on a regular basis), it's my approaches that need work. Shot 46 on the front nine and missed my first ever eagle by about a foot but struggled with consistency on the back nine. But naturally nailed my approach on 18 to less than 10 feet and one putted to finish on a bit of a high. That course is never in great shape but was probably better than I've seen in in the past and for an avgeek like me it's a plane spotting heaven to the point of distraction.
But spending the afternoon with my son on the golf course it pretty hard to beat regardless of where you play.

Yah we played silverwing Saturday for our hockey wind up. What a ####ty course. We went firefly -> mayfly and some of the conditions of the fairways was despicable. Thank god it was only $83 bucks or whatever with cart. I drank like 9 beers and still shot 86 so that is a plus haha.

As far as I know, grumpy Ted is now retired. I agree, he was always dismissive and arrogant when I went, but the other gentleman, Robert, was always excellent. In fact, I would purposely drop in if it was just Robert in the shop. So, with Ted retiring, I believe Robert is running the show now so things should be better.

Course is immaculate. Greens are perfect. Pace was a touch slow, 4:45 to finish. Waited on every hole on the back.

Played there yesterday as well, greens are fantastic and it's one of my favourite links style courses in the area. 4:45 is decent pace for that course on a weekend, the short par 5s tend to slow things down with people waiting until greens clear to hit their second shots. If you get a group of hackers the last two holes can really bog down the course as well. I had a couple 6 hour rounds there last year unfortunately.

Played Inglewood,RCGA, and Sirocco this weekend.
Definite highlight was playing with my 7 year old daughter on Father's Day. With some pretty good instruction she is grooving in a pretty nice swing for age 7. She seems to be really enjoying the game which is kind of a surprise to me at that age. Definite bonus!
Inglewood - wow can you leave yourself in some tough spots if you are unfamiliar with that course! Had a few balls in the fairway that I had no look at the pins because of trees in the way. Not to mention a "lay up" that I thought was perfect straight in the drink.
Sirocco - pleasant as always. I play in the men's league here and it's good to see the greens coming around. They have been pretty mediocare all year.

Don't leave full unopened cans of beer on the tee boxes. Shell Oil had it's tourny at Nanton last week and there were full cans of beer everywhere.

Got to play Calgary Golf & Country Club today, a fun course that was in exceptional condition. If anyone ever gets the chance to play there take it!

Played mens night last night and got a Hole in One on hole #13 at Nanton. Hit a five wood over the water with the ball landing on the front part of the green, bouncing once and then rolling into the hole. It was a thing of beauty!
Lot's of yelling and high fives as I stood there pondering what I just did.
Hole #13 for those who haven't played Nanton....
Ohhh and the bar tab was $140 as I bought a round for everyone in the clubhouse. Thirsty bastards!
Get my name and the hole I got it on enscribed on a plaque in the clubhouse.
Still hasn't sunk in.
