I have honestly not met anyone in Calgary who has heard of The Stone Roses, that's why I made the comment. I'm sure there are people who know them lol, it's just that I've never met them or had anyone comment on them. They were a popular band in the U.K and they never really had much success on this side of the pond so my comment was not THAT stupid.
probably one of these due to their uplifting or mind expanding nature as well as a replay-ability that will make them classics 100 hundred years from now and people will still play them.
Fibonacci sequence and deep philosophical ideas
One from this album; perfect combination of beautiful melodies, rhythms and cultural snapshot of the era
not the performance but the song, often cited as one of the best songs ever and will be played for hundreds of years. Not my opinion in terms of taste but my opinion on longevity and song quality.
Strairway to heaven doesn't make the cut, the lyrics and meaning take it off the list
Honest question, not meant to impact your point at all, just curious: How old are you?
I like the National quite a bit myself, and think Rush is the hottest of garbage, but the way you're pushing it reminds me of myself a decade or so ago when I was a little more proud of my music taste and a little less content. I'm only in my late twenties but I do remember my teens when my scope was smaller and I thought things like nobody in a city would have heard of a band (that was as obviously big as Stones Roses).
That said, send me a PM if you'd like. I've got loads of bands I think you'd be into, or at least ones worth checking out if you haven't. I'd also be interested in hearing some other things you're into.

I am 28. What are some other bands/artists you're into? Maybe if I find some in common I'll send you a PM. I like lots of stuff...but yeah when I was younger I used to listen to a lot of indie bands...these days I guess I'm less knowledgeable 'cause I haven't heard a lot of new stuff and I'm less of an "elitist" if you will lol. By the way, I'm not pushing The National like a proud hipster, they just happen to be one of my fave bands.
The National; boring musicly, generic lyrics that don't really mean anything, really average musicians, irritating production. Song in the OP is a great example of all of those things. It's okay if you don't really listen to it though.
