Default Flag Bearer for the Closing Ceremony? EDIT: Kim Boutin Selected

Who do we think it will be??? There's been plenty of good storylines these games and plenty of deserving athletes who could be selected. My money is on Kim Boutin being chosen.

I like the Ted-Jan Bloemen story, basically told he wasn't good enough to make the Dutch team, moves to Canada and earns a gold and silver for his new adopted country. It's likely his last Olympics, so why not give him the flag for the closing ceremony.

Darkhorse pick would be Alex Gough, just because Boutin seems the most likely.

TJ Bloemen might be in the hunt as well.

Or give it to Virtue and Moir again and let Scott carry it the whole time hungover.

Virtue & Moir again as a thank-you for everything they've done for this country on the world sporting stage.

Those two have gotten enough spotlight. I'd rather give it to someone else.

They would have been a good choice had they not carried for the Opening Ceremonies.

I hope it’s McMorris (and he could medal again tomorrow night, right?)

Yeah they have been good and are well decorated athletes but they already carried the flag at the opening ceremony. It is time to let someone else have the honor at the closing ceremony.

Maybe Kingsbury or Kripps/Kopacz. Obviously Boutin and Bloemen are well deserving of it as well.

Yeah, McMorris is a great choice. He had the third-best score in the Big Air qualifying, so a second medal should be possible.

Kim Boutin: only the second female Short Track Speed Skater to medal in all 3 individual events.

Alex Gough: first Canadian to ever win a medal in Luge.

Mikaël Kingsbury: bar none the most dominant Canadian athlete in his/her sport.

Mark McMorris: what a story. Goes from life threatening injuries to winning a Bronze and potentially another medal.

Ted-Jan Bloemen: pretty neat story but can't see him being in the mix.

Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir: I would have no problem letting Mr. and Mrs. Canada be the flag bearer for the closing ceremony but I doubt it happens.

My top 3 are:

Kingsbury
Boutin
McMorris

I'm voting for Boutin. But I'd be okay with McMorris or Bloemen!

I could see it going to Patrick Chan, with the expectation that Boutin gets the Beijing opening ceremony.

Rene Bourque, after 3 tallies in the gold medal winning game.

EDIT - I'll show myself out.
