It is (or rather was since he's banned now) his schick. He's the most miserable, negative poster for any sport team he follows on the board. It's was the same with the Blue Jays, and I believe also the Raptors.
Appreciate the input there, that clarifies things!
Well hopefully they get their practices in over the next few days. I assume one day will be a day off (tomorrow?) then Monday and Tuesday heavy practices towards the game on Wednesday. Will be interesting to see how they handle the sloppy play going forward.
Frustrating team to me: they can play awesome hockey when they're engaged fully and on the hunt...but they seem to need to be supercharged by a goal or something first so that they get going. They just don't seem to be able to get fired up on their own. Puzzling.
We've seen that a bit over the last few games...kinda behind, playing OK, but not well, then needing a goal, score and just turn on the jets.
Although DjsFlames made a point about the Flames completely missing on a good number of quality chances that had they buried would've been a different outcome, which was a good point.
All is good, thanks.
This brings up Backlund has been irritating of late, he keeps on missing all the scoring chances Tkachuck set up for him.

Was gonna direct him to the Ignore feature, if it bugged him that much, but see he's banned.
With a name like BigBrodieFan...you know what you are gonna get, why get upset when it proves out. It's not like the name is "AverageBrodieFan" or something.

Tkachuk on fire with 19 points
Gaudreau a bum and should be benched 17 points
Gaudreau had a poor game but let's not be ridiculous
Agreed benching him is an over reaction. You can't sit him. Just discouraged to see him shell up and play scared, again, in a tight checking playoff style hockey game. That just may be who he is though.

Maybe the question is how do top teams become consistently engaged, motivated? Do we need some guys, giving big hits, starting fights? is it a problem specifically with one or 2 lines. I think the coach can only do so much but there must be some ways to get them more engaged? I think I recall Darryl Sutter giving players specific goals, or tasks during games; Pretty sure he followed those up with some high expectations if they fell short!
If tonight wasn't a classic case of squeezing a stick too tight, not sure what is, as far as Gaudreau. He couldn't handle a pass, or outside of a third period stick handle through 3 Blues in neutral zone. Same on OT goal. He's lacking confidence which goes without saying, and this game was about as blatant as could be as far as trying too hard.
Watching him skate off each shift tonight, he was always annoyed with himself. Scared is being thrown around here, and that's not it.
