Remember there were reports that Washington was going to sign him for a better offer, and then when they traded for Chychrun they pulled it.

If that is true and it impacted Kylington's decision to leave, whoever leaked that information from Washington while Kylington was under contract to the Flames, should be fired. I would hope that if it was true, that Conroy would have made a complaint to the league. You can't have organizations leaking information like that and having affect other teams from being able to do business.

Contracts are discussed prior to July 1 routinely or else all these deals wouldn’t magically get done in a matter of minutes.
Seems like Washington dodged a bullet and Kylington needs to focus on saving an NHL career.
It’s a big so what for the Flames really.

I don’t wish Kylington any ill will, but at the same time- you reap what you sow. For him to spurn the Flames after all the organization did for him over the course of two years was really disappointing. You could tell that Conroy was really pissed.

He's just not that good and the way he left Calgary was poor.
I hope he can play a few seasons and make some NHL money, but I don't think he'll ever be more than a borderline NHL'r and losing him wasn't a bid deal.
Most importantly, I hope his health issues stay positive.

Either way, its the new Ethos of the Calgary Flames....
You have to want to be here. Otherwise? Theres the door.
The only real downside is that we didnt get anything for him.

Which wouldn't have been anything anyways. I don't think he had much or any value considering the lack of contacts out there.
Thankfully the Flames did right by him. He was a UFA and had every right to leave and explore his options, so I don't begrudge him that.

Nor do I. I largely dont think about him at all.
We're all thrilled with the Flames' fun and hot start, but at the beginning of this season I think most fans understand how this is going to end.
Stay or go, Kylington wasnt moving our needle. It might have been nice to get an asset that may or may not have panned out into something...but that doesnt really matter much either.
And hey...I'm not an expert by any means, but the guy has mental health issues...maybe he just needed a change of scenery? I dont know.
I wish him well and move along.

I loved the story of Kylington but the player not so much. I never bought into the hype of him as a player and from that stand point I am perfectly fine with him leaving and bringing in Bean as a replacement. I think Bean is overall, a better defenseman than Kylington.
From the human side I will never fully understand what Kylington went through but I can appreciate it was difficult for the both the player and the organization. I begrudge Kylington nothing and wish him the best moving forward. If he did what he thought was best for him then so be it. He was a UFA. All things being equal he earned the right to do what he did.

Kylington did not like living in Calgary either so not surprised he left when he had the chance. It is just a bad look after what they did for him

Well now he gets to live in Calgary with more violence and homelessness AND he'll get scratched and waived soon.
Big win.

I was going to make a 'mile high' joke, then I checked - weed has been legal in Alberta for six years. I thought it was only the hippies on the west coast.

Kylington asked for more term in Calgary than what they were offering so him not wanting to be here is nonsense. He played chicken with the Flames and lost.

OK was a tweener D that never planned out.
His first 30 games were great but paired with tanev. Makes all partners better.
His skating was great, when he could stay on his skates. Constantly falling on banana peels.
Guy will be out of the league soon enough
