I own both. I traded one to Boston, but it's going to be whichever one is lower of the 2. There is no condition in which Boston does not get one of those two picks from me.

I see your point, but Cam isn't trading a hyphothetical. One of those picks is his. We just don't know which one yet. It's worded a bit funny between him and Bagopucks, but there's no additional condition, it's just letting Bagopucks know which pick it will be, becasue we don't know yet.


If the CHI pick is 10th and the Van pick is 20th, then BOS gets the 20th pick to complete the trade between BOS and OTT. He then sends that pick to Bagopucks. There is no additional condition to be met, that I can see.

I am one of the more active gms in the league, I've never not met a condition, if some bails then it should be made clear to the new GM they have to honor it

It is a fair concern for Jiri and group. In the past what I have done is actually move one pick so that it is physically accounted for and not forgotten about. Alternatively, we need a condition that OTT can't trade either pick.. it appears implicit and the intent of the OTT gm but conditionally that would help maintain the accounting of picks.

If it helps, in trade discussions I have already told other GMs that one of those picks is accounted for and I don't know which one yet. If I were to trade him my Chicago pick, for example, then we would just need another condition that if ends up the higher pick, than I have to trade the other pick for it back. Either way the additional pick will not be traded without the other party knowing they won't know which pick it it will be until later.

Islanders trade Logan Thompson and Ben Danford to Detroit for Anton Forsberg, Miko Matikka, DET's 2025 2nd, and DET's 2026 4th.

Wanted to recoup some picks and cut down on CPHL salaries after acquiring Markstrom. I really like Forsberg and debated trying for him in free agency. Danford is a good prospect who I snagged low in the draft this year. Matikka is coming off a very good freshman year at Denver and has a chance to play games with Utah this year — had been looking at ways to get him for a while.

Thompson should be a nice stabilizing presence for Detroit. I like him, but I don't need two starters! Glad this worked out for both teams. Thanks to the Wings for the talks.
