I agree. basically she needs at least 1/3 of Nazi supporters and people wishing death on others (her words) to vote for her to win, and sadly she may well get her wish

The good news is you’ll fall in line with Smith the same way you fell in line with Justin. We’ll just hear you whine and complain more, instead of bragging about how much smarter you are than your neighbor.

The campaign is still young. I'm sure the real crazy stuff is being saved for the last week.

If that was any other party candidate, it'd be considered a "bozo eruption" and they'd be dropped from the ticket.

Remember when a loud yell or a binder full of women was enough to get you sidelined to obscurity? I miss those days. I think Sara Palin normalized saying the dumbest things and getting away with it, Trump cemented the idea when Conservatives field to punish him.
The right has normalized this behaviour, and rewarded it by clapping like trained seals every time a Lib is owned. Thanks guys.

Have they announced anything regarding the advance polls? I'm out of town for the election (assuming that WJ pilots don't kill that!).

You could apply for a mail in ballot. I think my wife got hers less than a week after she applied.

NDP shiukd strike while the irons, quite literally, hot. They’re on record across multiple media as calling out the UCP cuts to fire services, and the UCP making claims about improvements. In the realm of public discourse and politicking, this doesn’t need much nuance and debate about what’s driving this years fires…there’s thousands of former UCP voters fleeing their homes right now…enough podcast clips and start bringing up policies that these voters can see the smoke of.

While the UCPs policies have turned this year's fires into a classic "#### around and find out" moment, I would guess the NDP is a bit wary about opening themselves up to criticism of politicizing a disaster.
You know and I know the UCP wouldn't be above it, but they will gleefully make hay over the NDP even breathing a hint of it.

The UCP would just throw the NDP government's $15M firefighting budget cut in 2016—not even a month before the big fire in Fort Mac—back in their faces.

Advanced polls run for the week before the election and you don't have to vote in your specific polling location.
I was already scheduling my advance vote into my calendar this morning, so since I already did the google search I don't mind sharing :

Cut to 1977. Gun-group veterans still call the NRA’s annual meeting that year the “Revolt at Cincinnati.” After the organization’s leadership had decided to move its headquarters to Colorado, signaling a retreat from politics, more than a thousand angry rebels showed up at the annual convention. By four in the morning, the dissenters had voted out the organization’s leadership. Activists from the Second Amendment Foundation and the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms pushed their way into power.
The NRA’s new leadership was dramatic, dogmatic and overtly ideological. For the first time, the organization formally embraced the idea that the sacred Second Amendment was at the heart of its concerns.
The gun lobby’s lurch rightward was part of a larger conservative backlash that took place across the Republican coalition in the 1970s. One after another, once-sleepy traditional organizations galvanized as conservative activists wrested control.

This was posted in the US gun thread, but the parallels to what TBA are doing to the UCP are spooky.

Keep calling conservative voters idiots, the ones you are trying to convince, you're not going to get very far. You're going into deplorables territory.

I don't think left wingers have a monopoly on the concept.
That said, It is easily the most unlikeable trait of contemporary political discourse. You don't agree with my ideology because you are dumb.
Still, it is hard to find common ground with Danielle Smiths base, their epistemology is so different than the majority of Albertans.

Smith issues an apology, not for her beliefs, but the "offensive language" she used calling everyone Nazis i.e. she's saying sorry cuz she got caught and that this is now bad press. Also she calls Covid over and says everyone should move on to relevant when Covid is still around, just not a health emergency.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is facing questions after a leaked video depicts her informing United Conservative Party supporters before the public that her government was declaring a state of emergency due to wildfires.
The video, obtained by The Canadian Press, was taken at a party rally for UCP candidate Mickey Amery on Saturday afternoon in Calgary.
The video shows Smith telling supporters she’s giving them a little bit of inside information.
Smith is heard saying the supporters are the first to hear about it and that she has to head off to a press conference to announce the state of emergency.
Smith, like all members of cabinet, swore an oath when taking office to hold cabinet decisions in confidence until the information is officially made public.
