Probably would need to be refilled more often... but you'd think banks would be all over the increase in fees they could collect. Not paying attention? That'll be a $3 atm fee for your $5 withdrawal, thank you very much

You know you're allowed to keep the remaining $14 dollars and use it another time, right?

I remember this too - I was a poor student, and definitely took advantage of this at the RBC machines in Mac Hall at the U of C.

I really like the new $10s, fantastic design on those bills. I wish they would've kept the hockey $5's however.

At one point I lived in the apartment buildings on Bonaventure and Southland, and worked at the Jack Astor's on MacLeod. There were many Friday nights where we waited until 2 am for out cheques to go into our accounts, so we could walk to the Esso at MacLeod and Southland, take out $5 from the RBC ATM and buy a pack of smokes. Making $7 per hour sucked. Smoking sucked. I'm glad I don't do either anymore.

One of those machines dispensed fives until 2008 or something. It was a sad day when it stopped.

I remember that, and would go straight to the Kobe Beef for a plate of rice with all you want teriyaki sauce. $1.10.

Until 2009, the CIBC machine at the Macs in Lakeview gave out 5s and 10s. It was glorious.

Thank you for the sound financial advice, but what I'm trying to say is that $20 is a solid chunk out of my bank account, and it would be nice to have an ATM that just dispenses $5 so I don't have to go out and break a 20 into smaller bills/coins. I would rather see the $15 in my bank account than my pocket.

If only there was a card that could be automatically linked to your bank account. It would magically transfer your money to the merchant, and you wouldn't need to have any cash on you.

If that doesn't work for you, you could take your $14 change, and deposit it back into your account.

This is some of the most inane whining I've seen here.

Wait, saskflames69 is homeless and riding the rails with his bindlestiff and trusty cap? I guess the 69 industry isn't what it used to be.

Will his search for the magical bank machine that dispenses $5 bills be a success, or will the railroad bulls catch him and have him committed to the workhouse? Tune in tonight for the latest episode, "Stone Soup and another Hooverville", and see!

I am not poor nor homeless, just a very lazy & broke student who finds going to the bank an inconvenience.

FTR, I use my debit card for ~95% of the purchases I make, I just find it annoying having to break a 20 to pay somebody back 5 dollars. This probably belongs in the GMG thread, not here, so that's the end of that.

P.S. Jammies, I would pay CASH (yes, cash) to watch that episode.
