Who on CP carries fives or tens anyway? My wallet is full of hundred dollar bills, and I really like the way the coke looks thru the transparent plastic as I'm snorting it.

I'm amazed this many people carry cash. I find it way more convenient to put everything on my VISA, and then pay it off when I get my bill. My pay cheque gets deposited into my account; my bills get charged directly to my account or credit card. I use the Starbucks app on my phone to pay for coffee. There are very few things I need actual cash for. With many stores now accepting PayWave, it's usually faster than cash as well.

I totally agree.

I sometimes have 10 bucks in my wallet, if someone gives me cash for something, but I almost never need to use it.

I volunteered at a casino over the weekend.

Those new polymer bills are a PITA to count properly. They stick together and once they get folded, they are difficult to unfold.

Maybe it's a new trend with some ethnic people - you know, kind of like how <insert random race> cover their dash with statues/animals/crowns/junk

I'll gladly take some extra money off your hands if you're having that much trouble with it.

I swear I'm the only person who has no issues with this. My wallet must be magical.

The "melting money" does seem to be coming in from various sources:
http://business.financialpost.com/20...n-summer-heat/
http://news.nationalpost.com/2012/07...spite-melting/

But likes other said, don't leave your money on your car dash. Or on a heater. Or on a toaster oven. At least I don't have to worry about my bills being ripped to shreds in the laundry anymore....

I do find that newer ones stick together. A couple days after the $50s came out, I accidently handed a cashier $150 when I was trying to hand her ONE $50. I am thankful that she was honest and pointed out that I had handed her THREE bills and not ONE. But once the bills get used some, they don't seem to stick nearly as much.

Yeah, I never really see cash. Quite frankly I would be happy to just get rid of it all together. The wife and I use debit for everything. Our pay is deposited directly into our account, we pay bills online through the bank and pay for everything with debit. Don't need cash. Except for those cheap stores who won't let you use debit for less than $10. I tell those stores to get bent and go somewhere else anyway.

I think that's the problem so far, there aren't enough old beat-up bills in circulation yet.

When I went to Australia a few years ago, I didn't have any more difficultly with their plastic money than I had with Canadian paper money at the time. At that time, they had been using plastic money for 20 years, so you had a mix of old and new. Right now, all we have is new bills.

It's no different than when you'd go withdraw $100 and get five crisp new paper $20s. You always had to be cautious that you weren't handing over two or three bills instead of one.

I've seen those pictures of bills that were "Melted" and if you look at them, it's pretty obvious that those things were burnt, not melted. Big difference.

The plastic they are made of won't melt if you leave it on your dash, the stuff is good to 140 degress. I'm pretty sure if your money is melting in your car, then you've got other issues, because a lof of other stuff in your car is gonna be wrecked too.

When the new $100's came out I busted out the iron, put it to max and sat it on a bill for a couple minutes and.... nothing happened.

People are silly with their rumors

Why has nobody developed an ATM that just dispenses 5'ers and 10's? It would be the greatest thing since the internet. Nothing I hate more than taking out $20 just for a $6 lunch.

I remember back in the mid-late 90's that RBC ATM's used to dispense in $5 increments.
