Yeah John Wick was an absolute blast and the crowd was totally into it. Especially that first major fight scene. Keanu had maybe 3 minutes of dialogue in the film?
I haven't seen the new John Wick but I love that genre. Revenge\Vigilante...One man versus many bad guys. Some of my favourites off the top of my head:
The Death Wish Series- Number 3 is my personal favourite. Nonstop action and explosions with 80s punks as the villains. The new one with Bruce Willis is good too.
The Drop-Tom Hardy plays a regular guy who works at his uncle’s bar which as dealing with the Russian mafia. You know where it goes from there. Also has a puppy!
Blood Father-Mel Gibson plays a father who was locked up for the majority of his daughter’s life. She runs away while he is in prison and he is unable to find her. He gets out and is trying to live a straight life when one day his daughter contacts him to ask for help with some bad men she has been involved with.
THE Equalizer-Denzel Washington as a middle aged man working at a hardware store. All around good guy who fights the Russian mob.
If you like Payback then watch 1967’s Point Blank starring Lee Marvin. Same plot but has Lee “I’ll smack you in the mouth” Marvin instead. Parker starring Jason Statham from a few years back is the same movie as well.

Finally watched the Highwaymen last night and highly recommend. Great period piece and love movies about the old mobsters. Costner and Harrelson are both good in this one.

John Wick 3: It's amazing to see where they've taken this story and expanded the world because the first film was a pretty simple movie. This is a movie that shows why we still go to the cinema.
My criticism with JW3 is that it felt like a movie that was connected by action pieces. Story was just there to take us to the next big (but awesome) fight sequence. However, JW1 felt like a movie connected by story with action to take the viewer to the next part of the plot... which is far more interesting to me. Still though, highly entertaining.
Mid-90's: One of those really good films that you only want to see once. Captures the mood and time period of the 90's really well and connected with me as there's a lot of parallels to my own experience in that era. Made me think about the experiences I want my child to have when he grows up.
Velvet Buzzsaw: Swing and a miss. I felt like the satire of the art world thing fell flat and was pretty heavy handed. It tried hard to make fun of pretentiousness but the film itself felt pretentious. Good performances (along with wasted ones, such as an underused John Malkovich) and interesting way to shoot horror in bright light.

Any conversations about revenge/vigilante stories begins and ends with this film. You'll never be the same after watching this one.
P.S.-Do NOT watch the American remake version. Original Korean only please.

2011’s Dragon with Donnie Yen was pretty great too. It’s very similar to a 2005 American film but saying which one ruins it. But you’ll know which one once you watch it.

I think I've mentioned this before, but Harry Brown starring Michael Caine (and a bunch of guys from GoT) is an underrated gem. Basically it's geriatric John Wick.

Lots of great Korean films already mentioned and I just wanted to add a few more that haven't been mentioned.
Nowhere to Hide
JSA: Joint Security Area
The Good the Bad the Weird
Mother
A Hard Day
The first two on the list help usher in this new Korean cinema we've been enjoying for the past two decades. Nowhere to Hide features one of my favourite scenes of all time from Korean cinema, accompanied by a Bee Gees song!
