Well, technically this is a fake watch, but I bought one while in China, the band on it is remarkably good quality, as is the time-keeping on it. Was happy I could find a nice, non-gawdy looking fake watch there.

My two latest horological additions have been a Panerai Luminor and an Omega Planet Ocean. Love 'em.

My Planet Ocean:
If only I could figure out how to remove the bracelet it'd have a new black strap on it.

If only there was a group of people with the specialty of making minor alterations to watches....
That watch costs more than many people's cars. Take it an expert.
Nice watch btw. If I had the money, that'd definitely be way up on my list.

Cheap timex on a nato strap. Not exactly like the one above, but close. Don't like flashy watches at all.

I'm sure when you buy the new strap, they will gladly take off the old one for you and maybe even install the new one. Taking it off takes about 10 seconds

If it were my watch (as I do with all my watches), I take them all to Southcenter sears. I have over a dozen, and I know I can trust Jo and Susana that work there. Jo is a watchmaker trained in switzerland (he goes back every so often to update). Susana has worked with Jo for a long time (i think like 12 or so years?). They are great with watches. I've seen first hand, them go the extra mile to make a customer happy. I've seen Jo do a sonic wash and pressure test on many watches complimentary to try and get customers to come back.
EDIT: Yeah, the place probably will probably put the band on for you. i guess for future stuff, i would reccommend taking to Jo. He's cheap and really good.

You don't know how much a good watch can run.

I do know.
Let's throw out some values out there, what do you think the average family in Calgary has for an average car value?
5k value?
10k value?
15k?
20k?
30k?
There would only be one category that the Omega Planet Ocean pictured would surpass in value in that list.

This arrived today from my friendly neighbourhood FedEx driver. Haven't been sold in North America for many years, but found a reputable seller in Singapore that had the Asian version for a great price.
Pretty hefty in stainless steel, but the Black Ion plating looks excellent on it.

Must be a pretty slow summer if a perennial lurker like me posts thrice in a day.
Part of the fun is tinkering, nothing like the days of hot rods and such but a little patience and a 1.6mm screwdriver (instead of the spring bar tool) made it super easy to switch out this strap I bought online.
I wouldn't ever do anything more than change out a strap though.

Based on the above poster's previous comments in this very thread; it sounds like he knows a thing or two about watches.

That's a beautiful PO you have there.
Mine's the 42mm on bracelet, black bezel with orange dial numbers. I got the previous generation (no display back, no calibre 8500) - as much as I love the new style, I saved a chunk of cash for what I still consider an incredibly sharp and very accurate timepiece.

Bought this bad boy in Vancouver in 2008. Still in great condition and I love the rubber strap. I bought it pretty fast had no idea it stopped ticking if you didn't wear it for two days. When I put it back on it starts ticking.

Does anyone have a Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec? If so, how do you like it? That's the next one I'm looking at.

Your first automatic/mechanical watch, I take it? Although I'm not a fan of them, that's one nice thing about a quartz watch. You don't have to worry about the power reserve running out if you don't wear the watch (or wind it, in the case of manual handwinding movements like my Panerai).

No, but just looked it up. Wow, gorgeous watch.
