They're probably working as valet's and cooks and maids in Putin's house in Moscow right now.

I love the quote....."They could not reach the coast and, apparently, have all died," the official said.
Aren't they basically saying "We dumped the little buggers 40mi offshore and told them to swim home"?

There's some interesting things going on in Somolia right now. The pirates control a few ports in the country and earn money not only through piracy but also through tariffs. For the most part, the pirates left the ships destined, mostly Indian, alone but they are starting to attack them as well.
Islamist extemist groups in the country have started to see the profits these pirates have been making and have begun eliminating the pirates and taking control of the ports. Those tariffs are now going to Al Qaeda backed groups and the extremists are saying that they have rid the area of pirates as their acitivities where not Islamic.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

They put them on a boat that disappeared from radar after release. i'm sure the russians made sure the boat was sea (bottom) worthy before they put them out. they're considerate like that.

In Soviet Russia...
I wonder if the special forces went old school and made them walk the plank? I wouldn't be surprised.

No country should ever pay the ransom. You send in the special forces and kill them. How hard can it be to kill a few skinnys.

I would agree with this, they probably couldn't bail fast enough.
I remember our guys repairing the pirates engine so they could make it back to shore. Why ?
Why don't they have some cruise ships full of gun enthusiasts visit the area?

i would have thought blackwater (or whatever they changed their name to) would be all over this. putting their trigger happy guys all the merchant ships begging to get a crack at an approaching pirate ship.
I'm sure the ship owners don't want shoot outs on the high seas though.
