He doesn't play up to a 4m contract and I think you'd find most people saying as much. For less than 2, what's not to like?

They can't fit him in with their current cap space.

Maroon's brother is saying the Lou Korac report is false.

This makes me happy, as it probably pisses Oiler fans off.
Remember when they traded him and then said they would just sign him back on in the summer? Goes to St. Louis for less money!

That's a great bargain for Maroon. St. Louis looks like they are the cream of the crop for the central this year, as long as Allen is 'good Allen' for most of the season, as others have previously mentioned. It is either Winnipeg or St. Louis anyway for the Central.

If the report is true, that is a phenomenal deal for Maroon.

Nashville won the Central last year, and I don't see them taking a step back anytime soon.

I still think the Blues are an average-good team
doubt we see them in the west final, not sure what everyone is worried about

If he signed there because of his son, I don't understand the earlier report that players like Pietrangelo were enlisted as part of a full-court press to get him to sign there. Unless it was to convince him to accept a lowball offer.

Wouldn't call them a powerhouse but if Allen has a bounce back year they could do some damage

Of course, if most teams in the NHL get very good goaltending, they will be pretty good.
That's the nature of parity in the NHL.
Conversely, if goaltending fails, it's hard to make the playoffs.

Their goaltending situation isn't great. These moves keep the relevant but it's a stretch to think Jake Allen is going to take them very far in the playoffs. They are one of the teams in the league that makes goaltenders look better than they are and Allen still wasn't very good last season.

What annoys me about the Blues is that they year the Flames to shreds nearly every time we play them. Jake Allen is notorious for this: he's the next coming of Brodeur against us, then proceeds to crap the bed against Anaheim, San Jose, LA, Minnesota, and Chicago for example.

Well, thats a hell of a contract for the Blues, but as has been suggested, there are factors that made that below-market, it was obviously not a deal that was widely available.
Credit to him though, at that price hes a great pickup.

you should check out his record and stats vs the Flames; 3-3; 20 GAA in 5.5 career games

Only one team scored 6 goals on Allen last season. Guess who?

The Flames have a 4-2 record against StL over the course of the past two seasons.

Either my memories of poor outings against St Louis go back further than two years or I'm just on drugs.
Either way I'm happy for some good news about our recent record against the Blues.

I think it was Elliott a few years back who would be in god mode when up against the Flames when they played the Blues as there was a couple of seasons where they owned the Flames.
