Good!
Living in Leaf Land, you get a pretty poor impression of Reimer. I've always liked him, and I'm glad to hear there are some in Flames Land that would welcome him there.

The guy has a 0.926 save percentage on the Leafs for crepes sakes. He's having a career year on the the second worst team in the league. Plus he's only 27 and in his prime. I wouldn't mind the Flames signing him at all.

I really hope not, unless it's super cheap. He's the definition of average and inconsistent. No team will win anything with him as their #1.

What makes you say that? He hasn't exactly played on a stellar team his entire NHL career.
If anything, it's impressive to see what he has done.

He's too up and down for my tastes. He's been in the league for 6 years, 3 have been good, 3 have been poor. He's never even played 40 games either, I'm not interested in picking up a 1B/backup type, unless it's for cheap. He's been very good this season, so the amount of money and term he will command will be too much, I just don't think he'll be worth it.

Not always, but as a general rule of thumb, I think it's very risky to dish out term (which is what it'll take) to an UFA that just had a career year.

On The Score app they have a article on 4 trades they'd like to see with one of them being
To Stars: Kris Russell and Jiri Hudler
To Flames: Valeri Nichushkin

Be surprised if that's all it took to get him. 2 pending UFA's.

Sign me up! There's no way they'd let Nichushkin go for 2 UFAs. Maybe if we added a high pick or a prospect like Poirier, Andersson or Hickey

I'd rather have draft picks tbh. I feel like Nichushkin is one of the most overrated young players in the game.

Did Rerun write that article?
*checks to see if the article's title is "Trades that need to happen now to make sense" *

That missed year due to injury really hurt his development. Nichushkin is having some major struggles right now.
I actually think Russell and Hudler is all it would take though. The Stars are going for a Cup.

I have the same worry, but (personally) have placed a lot of that blame with the Leafs.
I've watched Reimer hold the fort together long enough to realize his team isn't playing quite a few times.
It's an odd situation to evaluate him in, but I think that being a relevant goalie with the pressures and aggression coming at you from the Toronto media... and the terrible team in front of you says something about his potential. Maybe his ups we see are more of what he brings to the table, and the downs are the result of everything negative about Toronto?
It's a gamble, but I think putting defence in front of him, and taking him away from Toronto in general will let us see more of his ups than downs.
But you're right. His play this year jacked his value considerably.

This would be like Erat for Forsberg all over again. Doubt any GMs would make that mistake again. Especially Jim Nill.

Yeesh. Nichushkin, a Finn and Frolik on the RW? Lots of options there, and between Nichushkin and one of the Finns, you'd think we have to end up with at least one RW to play in the top 6.
Edit: Unfortunately, in the same article they mention "Lightning trade Jonathan Drouin to Senators for Cody Ceci, Colin White". The Sens aren't trading Ceci after making a big trade to get him a partner. The whole article loses any merit for me.

Nickyshkin is a near perfect fit for the top line if he plays RW. He brings the size and speed that would mesh well with Johnny and Monahan/Bennett and could really take off scoring wise plying with those guys
